Road closures planned for town's half marathon

A number of major roads will be closed for a town's annual half marathon.

The 13.1-mile (21km) race in Ipswich starts at 09:30 BST on Sunday at Ipswich Town's Portman Road Stadium.

Roads surrounding the stadium, including Sir Alf Ramsey Way, Russell Road and Constantine Road, will close from 05:00 on race day.

Other road closures, external across the centre and south of Ipswich, through Wherstead and Freston, will start at 08:30 and will be lifted at staggered times across the day.

Parking restrictions will be in place on Constantine Road and Ipswich Marina in Ipswich from 18:00 on Saturday.

Similar restrictions will apply on the B1080 Ipswich Road and Main Road at the top of Freston Hill.

All restrictions and closures will be lifted by 13:30 on Sunday.

The organisers said access for emergency service vehicles would be available at all times.

There is set to be engineering work on the rail line, external between Ipswich and London Liverpool Street at the weekend.

"Buses replace trains between Ipswich and Colchester as well as between Harwich Town and Colchester," Network Rail said.

"Trains will continue to operate between Norwich and Ipswich as well as between Colchester and London Liverpool Street."
