# Flight Lookup

> Lookup a single flight and get detailed information by IATA or ICAO flight code.

The Flight Lookup API combines schedule data, near real-time tracking, and aircraft details for a **single** scheduled & live flight. It’s ideal for flight detail screens: status, position, usual times, delays and aircraft information in one response. Terminals, gates and baggage belts are returned as `null`: no open source provides them.

>
> This endpoint returns the closest matching flight (live, scheduled, or landed). If you need all occurrences of a flight number across a day, use the [Flight Schedules API](https://docs.flystack.dev/api-reference/endpoints/schedules.md) and query by `flight_iata` or `flight_icao`.

>
> Scheduled times are the usual times of the flight, learned from at least 3 of its flights FlyStack tracked; delays are measured against them, not against an airline timetable.

### Authentication

**x-api-key** `string` *required*

Your FlyStack API token. You can create one from the dashboard (see [Authentication](https://docs.flystack.dev/authentication.md)).

### Query parameters

**flight\_icao** `string`

Search by flight ICAO code-number (e.g., `AAL6`).

**flight\_iata** `string`

Or search by flight IATA code-number (e.g., `AA6`).

> Provide either `flight_iata` or `flight_icao`.

**\_fields** `string`

Comma-separated list of fields to return (e.g., `flight_iata,status,dep_iata,arr_iata`).

### Response

**Live tracking**

**hex** `string`

ICAO24 hex address.

**lat** `number`

Latitude.

**lng** `number`

Longitude.

**alt** `number`

Altitude (meters).

**dir** `number`

Heading (degrees).

**speed** `number`

Horizontal speed (km/h).

**v\_speed** `number`

Vertical speed (m/s, positive when climbing).

**squawk** `string`

Squawk code (when available).

**updated** `number`

UNIX timestamp of last update.

**status** `string`

Flight status (e.g., `scheduled`, `en-route`, `landed`). A flight that leaves receiver coverage is `landed` once it should have arrived, or 6 hours after its last position when no arrival is known: its landing was not observed, and its arrival airport is the one its route publishes.

**Airline & flight identifiers**

**airline\_iata** `string`

Airline IATA code.

**airline\_icao** `string`

Airline ICAO code.

**flight\_number** `string`

Flight number only.

**flight\_iata** `string`

Flight IATA code-number.

**flight\_icao** `string`

Flight ICAO code-number.

**cs\_airline\_iata** `string`

Codeshare airline IATA code (when available).

**cs\_flight\_number** `string`

Codeshare flight number (when available).

**cs\_flight\_iata** `string`

Codeshare flight IATA code-number (when available).

**Route**

**dep\_iata** `string`

Departure airport IATA code.

**dep\_icao** `string`

Departure airport ICAO code.

**arr\_iata** `string`

Arrival airport IATA code.

**arr\_icao** `string`

Arrival airport ICAO code.

**Airport operations**

**dep\_terminal** `string`

Departure terminal (when available).

**dep\_gate** `string`

Departure gate (when available).

**arr\_terminal** `string`

Arrival terminal (when available).

**arr\_gate** `string`

Arrival gate (when available).

**arr\_baggage** `string`

Arrival baggage belt (when available).

**Times & delays**

**dep\_time** `string`

Scheduled departure time (local).

**dep\_time\_ts** `number`

Scheduled departure time (unix).

**dep\_time\_utc** `string`

Scheduled departure time (UTC).

**arr\_time** `string`

Scheduled arrival time (local).

**arr\_time\_ts** `number`

Scheduled arrival time (unix).

**arr\_time\_utc** `string`

Scheduled arrival time (UTC).

**duration** `number`

Flight duration in minutes, takeoff to landing: observed on the flights FlyStack tracked, else estimated from the distance.

**delayed** `number`

Estimated total delay (minutes, when available).

**dep\_delayed** `number`

Departure delay (minutes, when available).

**arr\_delayed** `number`

Arrival delay (minutes, when available).

**Aircraft details**

**reg\_number** `string`

Aircraft registration number (when available).

**aircraft\_icao** `string`

Aircraft ICAO type designator.

**model** `string`

Aircraft model (when available).

**manufacturer** `string`

Aircraft manufacturer (when available).

**msn** `string`

Manufacturer serial number (when available).

**engine** `string`

Engine type (when available).

**engine\_count** `string`

Engine count (when available).

**built** `number`

Build year (when available).

**age** `number`

Aircraft age (years, when available).

**type** `string`

Airframe type (when available).

**flag** `string`

Country of registration of the aircraft (ISO-2 code, when available).
