# Real-Time Flights

> Track live flights worldwide with near real-time position, speed, heading, and status.

Integrate real-time flight tracking (live ADS-B style data) into your product: monitor individual flights, power flight status screens, visualize traffic on a map, or analyze airspace density and regularity.

### Authentication

**x-api-key** `string` *required*

Your FlyStack API token. You can create one from the dashboard (see [Authentication](https://docs.flystack.dev/authentication.md)).

### Query parameters

#### Area & performance

**bbox** `string`

Bounding box: `south_lat,south_lng,north_lat,north_lng`.

**zoom** `number`

Map zoom level to reduce the number of returned flights (0–11).

#### Aircraft / airline / flight filters

**hex** `string`

Filter by ICAO24 hex address.

**reg\_number** `string`

Filter by aircraft registration number.

**airline\_icao** `string`

Filter by airline ICAO code.

**airline\_iata** `string`

Filter by airline IATA code.

**flag** `string`

Filter by the aircraft's country of registration (ISO-2 code, the `flag` field).

**flight\_icao** `string`

Filter by flight ICAO code-number.

**flight\_iata** `string`

Filter by flight IATA code-number.

**flight\_number** `string`

Filter by flight number only.

**dep\_icao** `string`

Filter by departure airport ICAO code.

**dep\_iata** `string`

Filter by departure airport IATA code.

**arr\_icao** `string`

Filter by arrival airport ICAO code.

**arr\_iata** `string`

Filter by arrival airport IATA code.

#### Response shaping

**\_fields** `string`

Comma-separated list of fields to return (e.g., `hex,airline_iata,lat,lng`).

**\_view** `string` (default: object)

View format:

* `object`: default JSON objects
* `array`: array rows (useful for browsers / fast rendering)

> For `_view=array`, make sure `_fields` lists fields in the exact order you want in the returned arrays.

>
> Only aircraft reported in the last 15 minutes are returned, on the ground or in the air. Responses are cached for 10 seconds.

#### Flight response fields

**Live tracking**

**hex** `string`

ICAO24 hex address.

**lat** `number`

Latitude.

**lng** `number`

Longitude.

**alt** `number`

Altitude (meters).

**dir** `number`

Heading (degrees).

**speed** `number`

Horizontal speed (km/h).

**v\_speed** `number`

Vertical speed (m/s, positive when climbing).

**squawk** `string`

Squawk code (when available).

**updated** `number`

UNIX timestamp of last update.

**status** `string`

Flight status (`scheduled`, `en-route`, `landed`).

**Flight & airline identifiers**

**flight\_number** `string`

Flight number only.

**flight\_icao** `string`

Flight ICAO code-number.

**flight\_iata** `string`

Flight IATA code-number.

**airline\_icao** `string`

Airline ICAO code.

**airline\_iata** `string`

Airline IATA code.

**Route**

**dep\_icao** `string`

Departure airport ICAO code.

**dep\_iata** `string`

Departure airport IATA code.

**arr\_icao** `string`

Arrival airport ICAO code.

**arr\_iata** `string`

Arrival airport IATA code.

**Aircraft**

**reg\_number** `string`

Aircraft registration number (when available).

**flag** `string`

Country of registration of the aircraft (ISO-2 code, when available).

**aircraft\_icao** `string`

Aircraft ICAO type designator.

Each flight is an array of the `_fields` values, in the order requested:
