Frequently Asked Questions About the Sephora Class Action Lawsuit
1. Why was this case filed as a “class action”?
In a class action, people called “Class Representatives” sue on behalf of other people who have similar claims. All of these people together are the “Class” or “Class Members” if the Court approves this procedure. Then, that Court resolves the issues for all Class Members, except for those who timely and properly exclude themselves from the Class.
2. How do I know whether I may be part of the “Class”?
In the Complaint, the Plaintiffs or “Class Representatives” proposed the following Class definition: “Sephora customers throughout the United States involved in its “Beauty Insider” rewards program who are and/or are perceived as being of Chinese/Asian race/ethnicity/national origin/descent and were blocked and/or had their accounts deactivated during the website crash on and following November 6, 2014.”
If you were a Sephora customer in the United States on November 6, 2014, were involved in its “Beauty Insider” rewards program, may have been perceived as being of Chinese/Asian race/ethnicity/national origin/descent and were blocked and/or had your account deactivated during or immediately following the November 6, 2014 website crash, you may have claims against Sephora.
