forbearance
Forbearance is an agreement issued by a lender to a borrower allowing for the temporary postponement or reduction of a loan payment. Forbearances are typically granted in cases where a borrower may be experiencing financial hardship and is unable to make full payments at the agreed-upon amount. Forbearance allows both parties to sidestep a default, which usually neither party wants.
