Commissioner, Precinct 1

Elected in 2024, I continue to use my experience to join fellow Commissioners in addressing the challenges related to the growth in Comal County. We are blessed to have a great home in Canyon Lake where I live with my wife and daughter. My three sons are in various levels of collegiate studies seeking productive careers. I continue to be very active in the community through church and non-profit organizations.  I recharge by enjoying my family, the lake, river and outdoor activities throughout the surrounding areas whenever possible.

Top Priorities

  • Prioritizing local solutions and collaboration with residents and partners for the evolving challenges in Comal County, spanning roadway planning, community services, and law enforcement
  • Responsible fiscal stewardship is crucial amid our growth
  • Effective and active communication with Comal County residents and partners
  • Partnering with our local stakeholders, elected officials, utilities, and citizens to communicate water source awareness and conservation measures
  • Being available to residents for discussion outside Commissioners Court meetings
  • Strengthening partnerships with public recreation stakeholders is key, focusing on safety, access, and implementing operational improvements
  • Ensure the conservative management of our County budget

According to the Texas Association of Counties: The job of the county commissioner calls for hands-on service delivery, as well as policy-making decisions about a variety of important matters.

What a Comal County Commissioner Does

  • Represent, available and responsive to all citizens of their respective precinct and Comal County
  • Operational and budget management for Comal County (to include funding the County Sheriffs and Constable offices, County road maintenance and construction, the Courts, County employee compensation, equipment, elections, infrastructure and buildings necessary to deliver services)
  • Setting the tax rate for Comal County
  • Maintain roads under the unit road system
  • Environmental enforcement
  • Adopt and enforce subdivision regulations
  • Make appointments to various agencies (such as WORD, ESDs)
  • Make decisions that come before the Court during weekly meetings
