#OCPSummit26 reinforced the importance of open, interoperable, and security-focused platform management for next-generation AI and cloud data centers. I was proud to join Ford Tamer on the main stage to announce the new SCMP Open Compute Project Foundation workstream alongside an impressive group of founding contributors and discuss the importance of open, secure control and management innovation for AI infrastructure. We also highlighted how Lattice Semiconductor and AMI are advancing open standards and firmware collaboration through OCP to build more efficient, reusable, secure, and sustainable AI infrastructure. Thank you to both teams, our partners, and everyone who connected with us throughout the week.

👍 Another fantastic #OCPGlobalSummit comes to a close! This shared journey of growing the open community and helping to build interest and momentum around open compute and open standards has been extremely rewarding, and AMI is proud to continue be a part of it on many fronts, together with Lattice Semiconductor. A big thank you to George Tchaparian and the entire Open Compute Project Foundation team for their hard work to make this year’s event bigger and better than ever. We’re already looking forward to next year in San Francisco - we will see you there!

Thanks to TechArena.ai and Allyson Klein for hosting our Colin Brix and Zane Ball, CTO of the Open Compute Project Foundation on “The Control Plane” to discuss this week’s OCP Global Summit in San Jose and the new SCMP work stream that we announced with Lattice Semiconductor during yesterday’s keynote presentation. The Summit wraps up tomorrow, so be sure to visit us in Booth A53 & A54 to learn how to get involved in this crucial initiative!⬇️

“We’re all here to build the stage together, but we’re not the performers.” Zane Ball, CTO of the Open Compute Project Foundation, said this when I asked how OCP balances open standards with the secret sauce operators guard. It captures what open communities do best. Zane and Colin Brix of AMI joined me on “The Control Plane” to discuss this week’s OCP Global Summit in San Jose. It’s a crucial moment for the industry, as evidenced by the fact that the show sold out. As Zane noted, the rack has become the computer, and a single data hall can run one workload. The building blocks exist. However, integration remains the open problem. Colin brought that home with an example every operator will recognize. A cooling loop starts losing flow. Today, someone reads an alert and reacts after performance has already slipped. He laid out a rack where cooling, power, compute and networking respond together, in sequence, with a common language, shared timing and the right context. I appreciated Colin’s candor about why AMI is pushing this work into the open. After 40 years of building custom firmware, his conclusion was simple: “No one player in this chain owns everything.” The new SCMP work stream gives the ecosystem a place to define rack-level control and trust together and stays open to anyone. Zane closed with the question I most want answered: when does infrastructure take consequential action without a human in the loop? He believes telemetry and attestation are taking shape faster than he predicted a year ago. Action is the next frontier, and I expect the summit hallways to be full of ideas about how we get there. Firmware sits at the center of every data center’s control path, and AMI has seen firsthand where fragmentation limits security and interoperability. Today at #OCPSummit26, Ford Tamer and I announced SCMP (Secure Control and Management Plane), a new Open Compute Project workstream that turns that experience into an open specification any vendor can implement and any operator or auditor can verify. I look forward to working with Team Lattice Semiconductor, OCP, and founding contributors AMD, Arm, ASPEED Technology, Intel, Jabil, Microsoft, and NXP Semiconductors to make trusted management and control the standard for AI infrastructure. We invite the broader OCP community to join the workstream and help shape its development. https://bit.ly/47dPBJh

Just announced at #OCPSummit26: Open Compute Project Foundation invited Lattice and AMI to lead SCMP (Secure Control and Management Plane), a new OCP workstream for open, secure AI infrastructure management and control. SCMP is an open, vendor-neutral architecture that establishes trust from silicon root of trust through rack and pod, reducing integration risk and giving operators more freedom of choice. Founding contributors include AMD, Arm, ASPEED Technology, Intel, Jabil, Microsoft, and NXP Semiconductors, and the workstream is open to all OCP participants. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gNwwi-5Q
