  • Preparing students for college, career, and beyond means making sure they have the guidance and resources to navigate every step of the journey. With the 2027–2028 FAFSA now open, our KIPP Forward team is working alongside seniors at KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy to help them understand the financial aid process, complete their applications, and explore opportunities to make their postsecondary goals more accessible. From understanding financial aid options to navigating application requirements and deadlines, KIPP Forward helps ensure our KIPPsters and their families have support throughout the process. This work is part of our long-term commitment to student success. Through KIPP Forward, we’re helping KIPPsters build the knowledge, confidence, and skills to make informed decisions about their futures. Because preparing students for what’s next means supporting them through the steps it takes to get there. 💙 #KIPPPHL #FAFSA #CollegeAndCareerReady #KIPPForward

  • Please join us in congratulating Principal Cheshonna Miles of KIPP North Philadelphia Academy Middle School on receiving national recognition for 12 years of service as a KIPP principal. School leadership requires a sustained commitment to students, families, educators, and the communities our schools serve. For 12 years, Principal Miles has demonstrated that commitment through her leadership, dedication to academic excellence, and continued investment in the KIPP North community. Her milestone is a reminder of the lasting impact school leaders can have—not only on the students they serve, but also on the educators they develop and the school communities they help strengthen. As we celebrate National Principals Month, we’re proud to recognize Principal Miles and thank her for her years of service and leadership. Congratulations, Principal Miles! We’re grateful to have you as part of the KIPP Philadelphia community. KIPP Foundation

  • How can students help preserve the history of the community around them? At KIPP Philadelphia Preparatory Academy, sixth graders explored that question through Homecoming, a student-led history and storytelling project. With Ms. Lee’s guidance, students researched KPPA and North Philadelphia, conducted oral-history interviews, and learned from alumni and community members. The project invited students to become historians of their own neighborhood—and to consider what it means to preserve the stories that shape a community. At KIPP Philadelphia, preparing students for life beyond graduation includes helping them understand the role they can play in their communities. Recently, eligible students at KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy participated in a voter registration drive with support from school staff. The initiative gave students an opportunity to take an important step toward civic participation and better understand how they can engage in the decisions that shape their communities. Power of Voice is a core component of our Portrait of a Graduate. We believe students should leave our schools with the confidence to express their ideas, advocate for themselves and others, and participate meaningfully in the world around them.

  • What happens when educators give students opportunities to become historians and storytellers of their own communities? At KIPP Philadelphia Preparatory Academy, sixth-grade teacher Ms. Jenee Lee is showing us what's possible when students investigate the history right outside their classroom. In 2025, Ms. Lee was one of 10 educators across Philadelphia selected to serve as a Teacher Consultant for the Philadelphia Writing Project and participate in Building a Living Archive: Black Youth (Re)Writing Philadelphia Histories. Funded by the Spencer Foundation, this research-practice partnership brings together the Philadelphia Writing Project at the University of Pennsylvania Graduate School of Education, The Colored Girls Museum, and The School District of Philadelphia to explore how young people can research, document, and tell their communities' histories. Through her project, Building a Living Archive: KPPA HOMECOMING, Ms. Lee guided sixth-grade students to research their school's history, conduct oral-history interviews with alumni and community members, and uncover stories that connect KPPA to North Philadelphia. Their work culminated in Homecoming, an exhibition where students shared their discoveries with families, alumni, and community members whose stories helped shape the project. This is the kind of teaching and learning we champion at KIPP Philadelphia. Learning that affirms our students' identities, connects them to their communities, challenges them to think critically, and gives them opportunities to use their voices. We're proud of Ms. Lee for her leadership as an educator and for creating an experience that shows what innovative, community-connected instruction can look like. Her students weren't simply learning history. They researched, documented, and preserved it themselves. Our new mini-documentary takes you inside this experience, following Ms. Lee and her students from classroom research and community interviews to the final Homecoming exhibition. 🎥 Watch the full documentary on YouTube: https://lnkd.in/eR8s5WP2

  • Preparing students for life after high school starts with helping them see what's possible. Through experiences like these, we continue to reinforce the importance of preparing our KIPPsters for college, career, and beyond. #KIPPPHL #CollegeAndCareerReady #KIPPForward
