How can institutions be confident about who is taking part in research, and whether their link to an institution is still valid? Australia has no common national baseline for answering that question. The Australian Digital Trust Community Group, which works under the OpenID Foundation, has responded to the Higher Education Standards Committee’s research security consultation. It argues that research security and openness can go together. Read more here: https://lnkd.in/ev8vyxsa John Scullen #ResearchSecurity #DigitalIdentity #OpenStandards #HigherEducation #Australia

AI agents are being rolled out faster than the systems needed to identify and control them. The risk is highest when an agent crosses from one platform to another, where each side has its own rules for identity, trust and permissions. The OpenID Foundation’s Artificial Intelligence Identity Management Community Group has published a threat model setting out what can go wrong at these boundaries. It gives architects, security teams, providers and standards bodies a shared starting point. The response looks at how the Bill would work in practice for identity providers, wallet providers, credential issuers, verifiers and brokers. Call for proposals: OpenID Well-Known Conference, 2–4 February 2027, London. We are looking for practical, honest accounts of driving adoption and achieving scale in digital identity and credential ecosystems. Not just what you built, but how you got there. What worked, what did not, and what you would do differently. Organizations take different approaches, and there is value in learning from all of them. If your experience could help another ecosystem or jurisdiction, we want to hear it. Read more on what makes a strong proposal here: https://lnkd.in/gYB687Vf
