When Robert Kirkman launched Void Rivals No. 1 in 2023 as backdoor way to introduce a shared comic universe featuring Transformers and G.I. Joe, he wasn’t sure how it would be accepted. After all, the licensed comics featuring those two Hasbro properties had been published almost continuously for almost 30 years via companies such as Marvel, Devil’s Due and IDW. They were relatively sleepy but reliably steady sellers.
