We benchmarked the GitHub Copilot agentic harness against the harnesses that ship leading models natively. Holding the model and task fixed across SWE-bench Verified, SWE-bench Pro, SkillsBench, TerminalBench, and Win-Hill, the results were clear: • Task resolution on par with model-vendor harnesses • Fewer tokens across most configurations A key learning: With GitHub Copilot supporting more than 20 models, you're free to pick efficiency or peak quality per task. Every day, GitHub engineers introduce new open source dependencies into the GitHub platform, internal applications, and open source projects. Using open source responsibly means respecting the licenses that govern those dependencies. At GitHub’s scale, that requires bringing license reviews into the workflows developers already use. A few months ago, GitHub’s Open Source Program Office migrated from internal tools to the new License Compliance feature in GitHub Advanced Security. License checks now run on pull requests. They identify problematic direct or transitive dependencies and let developers request exceptions from GitHub’s license policy team. Policies can be updated at the enterprise or repository level, depending on the license, package, and use case.
