HistoryLink, more than an encyclopedia
Though the primary mission of HistoryLink is to produce HistoryLink.org, the online encyclopedia of Washington state history, our mission also charges us with pioneering innovative approaches to historical research, education, and publishing.
HistoryLink offers historical research and publishing services for organizations with upcoming anniversaries. The services provided by HistoryLink include counseling organizations on historical research strategies, conducting historical background and photo research for an organization’s own use, research, design, and publish historical books, and design historical displays for anniversary events.
Online Articles
The types of articles commonly produced by and posted on HistoryLink.org include the following:
- Feature Article / $2,750:
A feature article is an essay of up to 4,000 words. These essays tell the stories of people, places, events, and organizations. - Timeline Entry / $1,250:
A timeline entry is an essay of up to 1,500 words. These briefer essays are organized by date and become part of our chronology of Washington state history which provides a sense of how the event relates to other things happening across the state. - Essay Set / $4,000:
An essay set is comprised of both a feature article and timeline entry. Each additional timeline entry added to an essay set is $1,250. Essay Set plus one audio or video file|$5,000: A video file or audio file is added to enhance the essay set. - Interactive Tour / $5,000: Interactive tours are mapbased essays that, for example, guide a reader through a city or neighborhood, or along the course of a trail or river.
- Slide Show / $5,000: Most HistoryLink essays are accompanied by photographs, but slide shows use many more photos to illustrate subjects that are best explained visually. One good example is the slide show history of the Bicycle Tree in Snohomish County

HistoryLink is available to research, design, and produce historical displays for institutions with upcoming anniversaries or special events.
Research
Organizations with upcoming anniversaries can take advantage of our resource of over 40 staff and contributing historians, and more than a decade focusing on Washington State history. Our involvement can range from consultation on historical research strategies to conducting background and photo research.
