Would you trust a company with your family's medical bills just because "everyone else" does? Most people pick health insurance based on which company is the biggest name out there. But the real value lies in understanding what a policy covers, how it works during a claim, and whether it suits your family's health needs. So before you pick a policy based on brand name alone, check these instead:  1. Waiting periods: How long before pre-existing conditions get covered?  2. Room rent limits: Are you free to pick any hospital room you want?  3. Sub-limits, hidden caps on specific treatments.  4. Claim process: how fast and how easy it actually is.  5. Network hospitals: Is your preferred hospital even covered?  6. Exclusions: What's quietly left out. The biggest name in the market isn't always the right fit for your family. Read the fine print; it matters way more than the logo. And if you need help figuring out what fits your family's needs, book a free call with our advisors. #marketshare #insurance

  • This is the story of a ₹2 lakh health insurance claim that didn't go the way the policyholder expected. After being hospitalised, he filed a claim, assuming his health insurance would cover the expenses. But the insurer had a very different view. What happened next shows why you should never accept a claim decision without understanding the reason behind it. Insurance is easy to buy. Understanding how it actually works is the hard part. That's where Ditto comes in. If you'd like someone to review your policy, explain the fine print, or answer your insurance questions, you can book a free consultation with a Ditto advisor. Buying insurance can be confusing but Ditto Insurance has made it surprisingly simple for me every single time. I've been relying on them for the last five years and they've consistently earned my trust with their honest advice and zero-pressure approach. Recently, I was looking for a insurance policy for my father and once again, the experience was seamless. Every question we had w/ all the options were explained clearly and even our last-minute changes were handled without any fuss. A shoutout to Faria who made the entire process effortless. She was approachable and genuinely invested in helping us make the right decision rather than just selling a policy. For me, Ditto isn't just an insurance advisor, it's the first place I turn to whenever my family needs insurance. If you're looking for transparent guidance and unbiased recommendations, I can't recommend Ditto enough!

  • Ask someone why their hair is thinning, or why they're tired all the time, or why they get sick every other month, and they'll blame their sleep, their stress, or their genes. Rarely do they blame their plate. India's protein problem isn't new. What's new is that people are finally paying attention to it. Most Indian diets are built around carbs and light on protein. Most of us fall short of what our bodies actually need, and we just call it a lifestyle issue instead. Protein isn't just for people chasing gym gains. It repairs tissue, builds immunity, keeps your bones strong, and keeps your hunger in check. Most adults need roughly 0.8 to 1 gram of protein per kg of body weight every day. Active people need more. Look at the list in this card. If two or three sound familiar, maybe it isn't your lifestyle. Maybe it's just your plate. #health

You could be saving up to 30% on your health insurance premium. Just by walking 10,000 steps a day. A lot of health insurers reward you for staying active, if you hit a certain step count consistently, they knock a chunk off your renewal premium. But there's no single name for this across the industry, every insurer calls it something different, Care Supreme calls it Wellness Benefit. Niva Bupa Reassure 2.0 calls it Live Healthy and Tata AIG Medicare Premier calls it BEneFIT. However, that's only one part of the story though. The catch is that these benefits usually only work if you're actually being tracked. In fact, some insurers require you to track your steps through their specific apps. No other tracker counts, even if it's genuinely accurate. But this add-on could be genuinely worth considering if you are someone who has a healthy and active lifestyle. So the next time you’re renewing your insurance, ask your advisor whether your plan has something like this built in, and see if it suits how you live. If you need help finding the right add-on/insurance for you or your family, book a free call with Ditto Insurance now. #health #economy

  • Around 830 million people globally live with diabetes. In India alone, an estimated 77 million adults are living with Type 2 diabetes, while nearly 25 million are prediabetic. Today, the only thing more concerning than having diabetes is not knowing you have it. More than 50% of people are unaware of their diabetic status, which can lead to serious health complications if diabetes isn’t detected and treated early. Adults with diabetes also have a two to three times higher risk of heart attacks and strokes. Early detection, regular monitoring, and timely doctor consultations can make a real difference. Routine testing, healthy habits, and the right treatment can help manage diabetes and reduce the risk of serious complications. By acting today, we can protect our health and build a healthier future for generations to come. At Ditto Insurance, we believe that being prepared also means having the right financial protection in place. The right health insurance can help you handle unexpected medical expenses without putting your savings at risk. If you need help finding a health insurance policy that works for you and your family, you can book a free call with our advisors, and they’ll help you out. • This is the story of a ₹5 lakh health insurance claim that didn't go the way the family expected. They had health insurance, and they had even increased their sum insured months before the hospitalization. So when they filed the claim, they assumed they were fully covered.  But they weren't. What happened next highlights a policy clause that many people don't know about until they're in the middle of a claim. Insurance is easy to buy. Understanding how it actually works is the hard part. • Savings feel solid until one hospitalization empties them. Most of us go through life feeling reasonably prepared. We save, we plan, we keep some money aside just in case. And that works for a lot of things. But unfortunately, a medical emergency is in a different category altogether; it arrives without warning, can stretch on longer than you expect, and it costs more than almost anything you'd have planned for. And somewhere in the middle of all of it, you find yourself doing math you never wanted to do. This isn't a post selling you insurance. It's not even asking you to think about Ditto. Just be insured by someone, by any means. So that the one time you really need to focus on getting better, money is genuinely not the thing standing in the way. Recently went through a health insurance experience that left me both grateful and thoughtful. First, a big thank you to Ditto Insurance and especially Jasmeet Singh for guiding me with clarity and patience through the process. p.s. Ditto could not issue policy for me as they do not cater non resident Indians - yet they guided me through the process. That said, this experience also highlighted something deeper about the complexity of the health insurance ecosystem in India. While buying insurance, things appear straightforward. But during claims, there is often: - Fear of rejection based on fine print - References to unrelated past medical conditions - Interpretations of “Pre-Existing Diseases (PED)” that can feel ambiguous It raises a fundamental question: Why isn’t all verification done upfront at the time of policy issuance? If a policy is issued after full checks, then during a claim: - There should ideally be minimal friction - No subjective reinterpretation of medical history - No anxiety about whether something will suddenly be considered “related” Some real-life reflections: - I had an ACL tear while playing badminton, underwent reconstruction, and recovered fully. → Is that a disease or a sports injury? - A C-section delivery — is that a medical condition to disclose repeatedly? Where do we draw the line between medical history and disease? Another thought (yes, a double-edged sword): What if healthcare records were securely linked (e.g., Aadhaar-linked health data) and transparently accessible to insurers at policy issuance stage? - Full transparency upfront - Clear risk assessment - And most importantly, confidence at claim time Because ultimately: If I am paying a premium regularly, I should have peace of mind that the claim will be honored - not questioned. I strongly feel this is an area where greater standardization and possibly regulatory intervention can help improve trust in the system. Curious to hear others' experiences - Have you faced similar ambiguity with health insurance?
