Generated loot

[edit | edit source]

Lava spawners could be found in starting house chests in stacks of 99 in Indev 0.31 20100124-2310, and stacks of 100 in Indev 0.31 20100128-2200. Prior to this, they were added to the player's inventory by default in a stack of 5.

Usage

[edit | edit source]
Image
As lava spawners are full solid cubes, placed gears render on their sides.

The lava spawner has many visual and functional differences from normal lava:

  • It is a full, solid cube block with full block collision.
  • It does not damage entities.
  • It does not emit light.
  • All sides use the same still lava texture.

Creating liquids

[edit | edit source]

Immediately after placement, the lava spawner creates blocks of lava on each of its four orthogonal sides. If these created blocks are removed, they get regenerated after enough time.

Sponges

[edit | edit source]

Unlike with normal lava, lava spawners are deleted by sponges.

History

[edit | edit source]
Java Edition Indev
0.3120100122-2251Image Added lava spawner.
The block is referred to as a "volcano block".[1]
It appears in the player's inventory in a stack of 5.
20100124-2310Lava spawners can now be found in starting house chests in a stack of 99.
20100128-2200Lava spawners can now be found in starting house chests in a stack of 100.
20100129-1447Lava spawners can no longer be found in starting house chests.
20100131-2156Lava spawners now periodically generate lava around themselves even if said lava was previously removed.
20100201-2227Lava spawners are now deleted by sponges.
Java Edition Infdev
20100624The lava spawner has been removed. As the ID is now empty, it now crashes the game with a NullPointerException if a chunk containing said block is loaded or an inventory containing one opened.
20100629Image The numeric ID which lava spawners used is now used by oak stairs, and as such all existing lava spawners seamlessly convert into oak stairs instead of causing the game to crash.

Issues
