    I’ve been on Mastodon for a few days and wanted to make a 🧵 for other newbies ❤️ Servers: probably the thing that confuses people most. It matters what server you choose…kind of. You can follow people from different servers, and you can migrate followers to a new one. (1)

    Transparency: I'm fucked up these days. I recently left a decade-long relationship, it's about to be my birthday, and I'm feeling a lot of grief and fear and uncertainty. I'm in a new city where I don't know anyone. I'm deeply isolated. I want to go to a home that doesn't exist.

    It’s annoying that SWers get singled out for “exploiting lonely men” while Twitch replaces watching your friends play videogames and every other YouTuber starts off their videos with some sort of variation of “hello friends!” We’re all lonely and online, may as well get off. 🤷‍♀️
