DENVER - In response to several wildfires burning throughout Colorado, Governor Jared Polis and the Department of Revenue are offering help to people and businesses affected by the 2026 fires for which Governor Polis declared an emergency including the Aspen Acres, Ferris, Gold Mountain, Willow, Sharpe, Poitrey Canyon, Snyder, Green Ridge and Big Sheep Fires.

DENVER — Tuesday, June 30, 2026 — The Colorado Division of Motor Vehicles (DMV) Motor Vehicle Investigation Unit (MVIU) is issuing an urgent warning regarding the surge of fake temporary license plates, noting that drivers caught using these fraudulent tags face severe legal repercussions, including vehicle seizure, steep fines, and potential jail time.
