i wanted to recrop https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Amazing_Stories_no._31_(October_1928).jpg (which would help with danmichaelo#220 ) but croptool2 also cant do that.

Do you have a specific vision of a UI for this?

I'm worried this is feature creep - it would complicate the UI a lot for a corner case that rarely comes up. It might be better to direct people to other tools for the special cases in order to keep this tool simple to use.

@bawolff my imagination is that no ui changes are needed, but just make it accept links like https://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/archive/5/5a/20241205223805%21Amazing_Stories_no._31_%28October_1928%29.jpg and load this old version.

a related feature request is
load a non wikimedia url
then crop and upload

currently, if i want a cropped version of an external image,
either url2commons then croptool,
or i save it to my device and crop, then upload.
