This chapter of the author’s manuscript of Noura: Justice, Flourishing, and Commonwealth argues that diversity is not a value to be preserved but a consequence to be understood, and that pluralism is a normative condition to be enabled. It distinguishes eight concepts—Otherness, Intolerance, Prejudice, Toleration, Diversity, Legitimate Diversity, Embracing Diversity, and Pluralism—and critiques liberal approaches to defending the protection of differences in “ways of life”— (Locke, Mill, Rawls, Nozick), and contrasts each with the Noura framework. Drawing on the Noura framework, (...) it then shows that diversity is inevitable because the universal deep structure of flourishing generates diverse surface realisations; pluralism is normatively required because hindering legitimate conceptions of meaningful life obstructs informed agency; and pluralism is an emergent property of revealing‑form systems that satisfy Visibility, Symmetry, Contestability, Repair, Education, and The Requisites. This article examines the psychological consequences that follow if time is not understood as a fundamental substance or as an independent container within which life occurs. Drawing on Time, Life, and Death: Belonging and the Arrow of Time, it argues that the possible nonexistence of independent time does not eliminate change, duration, aging, causality, or death; it changes their interpretation. Calendar time measures duration through standardized physical recurrences, but it does not constitute the transformations it measures. An individual life can (...) therefore be understood not primarily as a diminishing quantity moving along an external temporal line, but as an arrow of transformation: a diachronic trajectory of belonging continuously constituted through synchronic relations. -/- The article introduces existential time as the lived density, breadth, openness, significance, and relational extension generated through meaningful participation in existence. Existential time can expand even as remaining calendar time contracts. Its enlargement depends on three irreducible but interacting pathways of belonging: love or affective significance; social significance through recognition, contribution, and participation; and existential significance through meaning, creation, contemplation, bodily care, physical activity, responsible eating, relationships with other species, and engagement with material and biological nature. -/- Research on attachment, social connection, purpose in life, mindfulness, natural environments, companion animals, exercise, diet, stress regulation, immune processes, healthspan, and mortality provides empirical support for these pathways while also establishing the limits of causal inference. The article distinguishes the direct enlargement of existential time from the probabilistic possibility that richer belonging may also contribute indirectly to longevity. It concludes by applying the six-step therapeutic architecture of the Psychology of Belonging—body, instinct, belonging, emotion, awareness, and mentalization—to temporal anxiety. The resulting framework proposes a psychology of finite life centered neither on denying death nor on merely maximizing years, but on enlarging existential time through embodied, plural, viable, and necessarily imperfect forms of belonging. How much predictive value is gained when an information set is refined? Many predictive- dependence frameworks emphasize whether additional information provides statistically de- tectable predictive improvement, while the magnitude of the resulting predictive value can be treated as a primary mathematical object in its own right. This paper develops Predictive Directed Association (PDA) from this perspective. For nested information sets, PDA is defined as the expected squared distance between the corresponding Bayes-optimal predictors. We prove that this quantity exactly equals the (...) reduc- tion in Bayes-optimal prediction risk obtained by incorporating the richer information set in place of the baseline information set. Thus, PDA is simultaneously a probabilistic quantity, a projection distance, and a decision-theoretic measure of incremental predictive value. We establish a mathematical foundation consisting of nonnegativity and boundedness, a structural characterization of zero association, information monotonicity, an exact chain rule for nested information refinements, decision-theoretic monotonicity, and estimation stability. We further derive a conditional orthogonal decomposition and develop a dynamical-state-conditioned extension in which predictive value is evaluated within specified dynamical states. An exact construction demonstrates an important phenomenon: global predictive association can vanish completely while predictive value remains strictly positive within every state. This provides a rigorous witness that marginal predictive analysis can conceal state-conditioned predictive structure. For statistical implementation, we develop a blocked estimation framework under geomet- rically mixing observations and establish consistency and rate-transfer results under explicit empirical-process and nonparametric estimation conditions. The resulting framework is model- agnostic at its theoretical core and does not require linearity, Gaussianity, or a specific dynamical model. Rather than proposing a pointwise replacement for existing predictive-dependence measures, PDA takes information refinement and incremental predictive value as its primitive objects. This viewpoint provides a common mathematical interface connecting conditional expectation, statistical decision theory, predictive dependence, state-conditioned analysis, and nonparamet- ric estimation, while opening a route toward broader theories of decision value, distributional predictive value, and general information value.
