We congratulate Aleksandra Hallmann, whose two volumes Ancient Egyptian Clothing: Studies in Late Period Private Representations received the Erazm Majewski Award in archaeological publications from the Polish Academy of Sciences. These richly illustrated studies analyze Late Period Egyptian clothing through reliefs, statues, and ancient texts, offering new dating criteria and insights into fashion's role in social and geographic identities. In Memoriam: Dr. Donald B. Redford (1934–2024)
Brill mourns the loss of Dr. Donald B. Redford, a distinguished Egyptologist and influential scholar in ancient Near Eastern studies. Known for his publications on the excavation work at Mendes and research on Ramses III's foreign campaigns, his contributions enriched the field of Egyptology. Our heartfelt condolences go out to his family, friends, and colleagues.
Spotlight on Harvard Egyptological Studies
Since its founding in 2015, the Harvard Egyptological Studies series has published cutting-edge research in Egyptology, including excavation reports, historiographical studies, and specialized works on Egyptian culture and history. Ancient Near East and Egypt
New Pauly Online contains all content from Brill’s New Pauly (English, 20 volumes + 2 index volumes) as well as the original German version, Metzler’s Der Neue Pauly. Fifteen volumes (Antiquity, 1-15) are devoted to Greco-Roman antiquity. They cover more than two thousand years of history, ranging from the second millennium BC to early medieval Europe. Special emphasis is given to the interaction between Greco-Roman culture on the one hand and Semitic, Celtic, Germanic, and Slavonic culture on the other, as well as ancient Judaism, Christianity and Islam. Five additional volumes (Classical Tradition, I-V) are concerned with the long and influential aftermath of antiquity and the continuous process of reinterpretation and reevaluation of the ancient heritage, including the history of classical scholarship.
