Utrecht University
Utrecht University (Dutch: Universiteit Utrecht), shortened to UU, is a public university in Utrecht, a city in the province of Utrecht, the Netherlands.
Utrecht University was established in 1636. It has more than 38,000 students and more than 8,800 staff members (in 2026).[1]
The focus of Utrecht University is on all sorts of sciences. It has 7 faculties:[2]
- Faculty of Geosciences
- Faculty of Humanities
- Faculty of Law, Economics and Governance
- Faculty of Medical Sciences, which is connected to the University Medical Center Utrecht
- Faculty of Science
- Faculty of Social and Behavioural Sciences
- Faculty of Veterinary Medicine
The university also has Botanical Gardens, a university museum and a university library with two locations. Some buildings of the university are in the city center of Utrecht, and some are on a campus on the edge of Utrecht, called Utrecht Science Park.
The university also has two university colleges, University College Utrecht (in Utrecht) and University College Roosevelt (in Middelburg).
