Major Papers Endorse Riley

Alabama’s four major newspapers on Sunday endorsed Governor Bob Riley for a second term, pointing to his stellar record during his first term and bold plan for a second term. The Huntsville Times, Birmingham News, Montgomery Advertiser, and Mobile Press-Register all published editorials stating Governor Riley deserves another term as governor. Story

IMMIGRATION

Illegal Immigration poses a great threat to the safety of all Alabamians. Gov. Riley has been a national leader in his efforts to protect Alabama's borders. Alabama is one of only only three states whose state troopers have been trained by Immigrations and Customs Enforcement agency to question, arrest, and detain illegal immigrants.

TAX CUTS

In his 2006 State of the State Address, Gov. Riley proposed a historic tax cut for every Alabama taxpayer. His vision became a reality when he signed Alabama's first significant tax cut in 70 years.

EDUCATION

Governor Riley has invested more money in education than any governor in Alabama's history. Through nationally renowned programs like the Alabama Reading Initiative and the Alabama Math Science and Technology Initiative, Governor Riley is investing money where it counts, in the classroom.
