ゴシック (Gosick)

Absolutely brilliant. This show blatantly makes fun of Umineko every chance it has, while maintaining a unique story of its own and its own dignity. The similarity is... striking, in the most ironic sense.


魔法少女まどか★マギカ (Mahou Shoujo Madoka Magika)

As one subbing group put it, "Madoka Magica is about a normal teenage girl who is living a completely normal school life when she and her normal friend suddenly get attacked by the Sayonara Zetsubo Sensei opening." This is what the anime is actually about.


夢喰いメリー (Yumekui Merry)

Colourful! About a (very cute) girl from the dream world trapped in reality. The style of the animation certainly reflects the dreamy nature of the plot.


みつどもえ 増量中! (Mitsudomoe Zouryouchuu!)

What the fuck was that? The amazing absurdity of Gatchi Rangers cannot be understated. So terrible, what have they done? This was, of course, exactly the point, and the joke was not lost.


フラクタル (Fractale)

As expected, the overall production is some of the best I've ever seen. However, the story feels as if it was created specifically for a western audience. This is not entirely bad, but it's quite the show I thought it would be.


放浪息子 (Hourou Musuko)

From the creator of Aoi Hana, a show that openly deals with gender identity. Extremely well made.

I haven't posted here in entirely too long.

The past month overall has been pretty decent. In reality, not a whole lot has happened. Life carries on, slowly and surely. I never really captured the glowing content Christmas/New Years feeling of years past, but at the very least I dodged illness and depression and had more or less an enjoyable time.

Anyway, I've resolved to update here more often from now on, with hopefully more entertaining content. And pictures!

For some years my household internet setup has been less than ideal. A router in the closet, and all computers running on a lacking 802.11g connection. Today I upgraded the cable modem, and took advantage of the opportunity to do a little reconfiguring of my internal setup.

The result? More blinky lights! I jest. I now have more computers running off a wired connection, and modem throughput seems to have dramatically increased. It remains to be seen, however, if this perceived increase translates into any practical differences.

A few weeks ago I recieved an invite to the WoW Cataclysm beta test. Naturally, I accepted it and have kept myself fairly occupied with it since then. I feel obligated to, at the very least, write some impressions and screenshots of it.

To start with, this is BETA, and is very buggy and unfinished. Many models and quests are mere placeholders, and loot drops have yet to be assigned to most mobs. Professions, class trainers, and quite a few core spells and talents just don't work at all, or are severely broken. The level cap is currently 83, as the 83 - 85 zones have yet to be completed.
