Hey all, I've only recently developed arthritis, exactly a year ago this month, and I'm glad to say I'm privileged to be able to manage it so well now with medication and therapy!

I do have a question that I've wondered while doing aquatic therapy. Whenever I swim, it feels like I have no arthritis at all. When I'm swimming, I almost forget about having arthritis, because it's like the pain just disappears!
What I want to know is, has anyone else experienced this? Is it different depending on the kind of arthritis a person has, or is it pretty much the same for everyone? I want to know how common it is for people with arthritis to feel this way when they do aquatic therapy.

I'd also be interested in anything you all might have to say about swimming or aquatic therapy and how it relates to arthritis or to you!

By the way, since it's my first year anniversary of developing arthritis, I'm thinking about doing something indulgent and special to "celebrate," for lack of a more accurate word. Haven't figured out what I want to do just yet though!

Does anyone else find that weather changes affect their inflammation? I am trying to find a logic behind when my knees starts acting up, and it's very frustrating. I used to think the cold got to my joints before it got to the rest of me, but I've since started randomly limping during heatwaves, as well. Now I'm wondering if it's a sudden change in temperatures of air pressure that gets to me.

I find it frustrating that rheumatoid arthritis is such a mysterious illness.

I just wanted to share this: After three weeks of an active flare with no prescription medication because "you aren't sick enough", I have finally found a doctor who gave me cortisone.

I am feeling so much better now.

Welcome to [community profile] arthritis.

As I think everyone diagnosed with arthritis (and anyone who knows someone with it) has a Story, let's just introduce ourselves. Feel free to divuldge as much or as little as you feel comfortable about yourself.
