Arthritis and Swimming
Nov. 6th, 2014 05:57 pmHey all, I've only recently developed arthritis, exactly a year ago this month, and I'm glad to say I'm privileged to be able to manage it so well now with medication and therapy!
I do have a question that I've wondered while doing aquatic therapy. Whenever I swim, it feels like I have no arthritis at all. When I'm swimming, I almost forget about having arthritis, because it's like the pain just disappears!
What I want to know is, has anyone else experienced this? Is it different depending on the kind of arthritis a person has, or is it pretty much the same for everyone? I want to know how common it is for people with arthritis to feel this way when they do aquatic therapy.
I'd also be interested in anything you all might have to say about swimming or aquatic therapy and how it relates to arthritis or to you!
By the way, since it's my first year anniversary of developing arthritis, I'm thinking about doing something indulgent and special to "celebrate," for lack of a more accurate word. Haven't figured out what I want to do just yet though!
