Traffic Calming Program

Bothell’s Traffic Calming Program supports the City’s commitment to the safety and livability of our neighborhoods by addressing traffic-related concerns such as speeding, high traffic volumes, and pedestrian safety throughout the city.

The goals of this program include:

  • Providing a safe and efficient transportation system.
  • Investigating and developing plans to address safety concerns and collision reduction.
  • Working with community groups and the internal city staff to address speeding, accidents, and excessive cut-through traffic volumes on residential streets.

This program is a collaborative effort by City staff and local residents to reduce the traffic impacts on both local and collector streets. We work together with Bothell residents to identify problem areas, propose solutions, and determine the best implementation strategy to address as many issues as possible. The program's intent is to solve the traffic problem where it exists, not move the problem to another local street.

Our historical neighborhood and collector calming programs were put on hold during the COVID pandemic and are currently being revamped to better reflect the City Council's priorities and vision, and the updated Transportation Safety Plan.  Stay tuned for an announcement this fall when that is released.
