2002

The 2001 Columbus Crew season was the club's sixth season of existence and their sixth consecutive season in Major League Soccer, the top flight of soccer in the United States. The first match of the season was on April 7 against Chicago Fire. It was the sixth season under head coach Tom Fitzgerald. Tom Fitzgerald was replaced as interim head coach by Greg Andrulis on May 17.[1] The Crew's USL A-League affiliates this season were Cincinnati Riverhawks, Indiana Blast, Pittsburgh Riverhounds, Rochester Raging Rhinos and Reading Rage.[2]

Due to the events of September 11, the Crew's last two matches were cancelled, along with all other MLS clubs'.
