Appearance
The executive branch of the government of Scotland, led by the First Minister and supported by the Scottish Ministers. The Scottish Government was created under the Scotland Act 1998 and was known as the Scottish Executive from 1999 to 2007.
The government is separate to the legislative branch, the Scottish Parliament, which is responsible for primary legislation.
