24th-Dec-2009 12:00 am - The Immortal Mr. Jones
Ianto

Title: The Immortal Mr. Jones
Author: Imageicywind
Prompt: Torchwood/Highlander x-over – Ianto wakes up an Immortal
Characters: TW: Ianto, Gwen, various cameos, an OC; H: Ceirdwyn
Pairings: Ianto/Jack Spoilers: Torchwood through the end of COE, Highlander - nothing specific
Summary: A series of vignettes (some long, some short) in the life of the newly Immortal Ianto Jones
Rating: PG-13?
Authors Notes: My first foray into Torchwood fiction…I just couldn’t pass that prompt up. The style is a bit of an experiment really, so I hope it works and isn’t terribly confusing. Feedback is much appreciated. I attempted to procure a beta a while ago (before the due date extension) but for a combination of reasons it didn’t pan out and then this fic sat finished on my computer for the last two months before I finally just sent it to a friend (thanks JP!!) for a bare bones beta to catch spelling/grammar issues. Any mistakes are my own.
Disclaimer: If it’s recognizable, it’s not mine.

I close Thursday evening...How am I supposed to get through the day knowing that I won't be able to see Day Four of Torchwood until midnight?!

At least tomorrow I should be getting home just about in time to see it.

Things that made me happy today in no particular order.

1. Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. What? It's a Christmas movie! It made sense to watch it. :D

2. Christmas Eggs at the Dragon Cave. Yeah, I know, it's childish and silly and they are just pixels, but, I like them. I actually managed to snag two of them after trying for two hours last night (there are egg drops a few times an hour) and another hour today. They look like candy canes as eggs.

3. Doctor Who. I haven't actually watched the '08 Christmas Special but I shall be doing so shortly. :)

4. Talking to my mom on the phone. This was my first Christmas on my own, ever. It sorta sucked on one hand, but wasn't as bad as it could be. And though I generally talk on the phone with my family at least twice a week it was nice to hear from them today.

I'm still holding off on things that made me happy today - but here are the ones that I missed posting the last two days.

Day Five:
1. Craig Ferguson. I think it was last Fridays ep that I watched and it was hilarious, as usual.

2. One of my coworkers, Mike, gave me a ride to the store. He was in the store shopping and after I mentioned I needed to pick up a few things on my way home he waited a half an hour for me to finish my shift before giving me a lift to the store near the friends he was visiting. Just too sweet of him, really.

Day Six (yesterday)
1. My wee tiny Christmas tree...it's like three inches tall or something and I love it. My Iron Man figure that is sitting next to it is taller... I should post a pic or something.

2. One of the customers I helped yesterday apparently was so amazed by what I did that she proceeded to tell like half the people at the checkout about how great I was - including one of our managers. Kinda embarrassing but man what a rush. Gave me a nice glow to know I helped someone. Corny, yes but...yeah, there it is.

3. I got to work with Nancy and Robin and Spencer! And yeah, I'd seen Spencer recently (mostly in passing), but not Nancy and Robin, I missed them. Working mostly nights and weekends means I don't get to see everyone as much and that's kinda sad.

As for today...to be continued. I'm actually a little nervous right now, it's my first time preparing a ham. Hope it turns out. It's in the slow cooker though, so that should help idiot proof it, I hope.

1. Doing almost nothing on my day off. Yeah, I might feel bad later for being a bit of a sloth, but it was nice to relax after this past weekend of crappy weather and all things related to it.

2. Top Gear. I'm not a huge car enthusiast to be honest, but this show is just so much fun.

And uh...that's sorta mostly it. As I said, I didn't do much today.

Dear Winter:
Dude...why so harsh on the first day?

And on to the happy meme...

1. Don Rickles on the Late Late show with Craig Ferguson. Yeah, it was from the 16th, but I watched it today and it was hilarious.

2. Winter Eggs at the Dragon Cave! I bred one, haven't yet attempted to get one via a drop. Very pretty. Adopt one today!

3. Hazelnut Hot Chocolate. Sooo so good.

Must be some sort of Christmas or Hanukkah miracle if I am posting... ;)

Anyway...saw this meme over at Imagebeeej's journal (and also Imagesabaceanbabe's later) and thought: hey, that could be fun. I'm starting mine retro-active for yesterday though, just to be different (and because yesterday kinda sucked for a few hours so I felt I should try to find the good in it...or something.

So...things that made me happy, yesterday:

1. The eps Spellbound and Rashomama were included in the CSI-athon on Spike. How could adorkable Greg 'expert on the occult and noir fan' Sanders not make me happy?

2. My silly crazy awesome coworkers at the store. After the craptastic time I had getting to work (a foot of snow, bus issues with rerouting and not putting out any notification on it, and then hiking over hill and dale to get to the bus all in all it took 1.5 hours to get to work and I was miserable and sweaty and unhappy as hell and thought I lost my watch somewhere along the way). Danielle gave me a hug. Christian said something random and silly (as he often does) and later I got a ride home from Kyle - who grew up a half an hour away from me it turns out (and he found the level of my ubergeekyness to be VERY amusing...it's not my fault I remember all that stuff, honest!). :)

3. I found my watch! It wasn't lost in the snow at all as I had feared, it just hid under a pile of books. Silly watch.

Things that made me happy today.

1. Dirty Jobs mini marathon. I just love that show.

2. Last night's eppy of Sanctuary. Henry got to go on a mission!! And he has a crush on the weathergirl meteorologist! ILU Henry.

Per the rules, I hope to actually post something for the next 8 days. I'm not going to tag anyone else to do it though...I'm a rebel like that. ;)

Doctor - you have got to be kidding
So let me get this straight...

I can't get the phone call this morning from my boss informing me that I could have the day off due to slow sales but I can actually get the phone call from some insurance company (a recorded message to boot) offering me home owners insurance.

Good to know.

Thank you, AT&T for your crappy crappy cell service.

Man I wish I had the money to cancel my contract with those jerks early, I really do. Almost anyone else has to be better and I am pretty sure Verizon will give me some sort of discount because of where I work.

Also, I'd love to know how that company got my cell number in the first place, but that's another matter.

Okay, seriously, people in the crowd during McCain's speech that are booing him every time he mentions Obama - GROW THE FUCK UP. If you love him so much, try listening to what he's saying.

Other than that vocal (hopefully) minority being dickheads, that's one of the classier speeches he's given. I like that John McCain much better than the vitriol spewing one we've had for so much of this campaign.

Is it wrong that part of me doesn't believe yet that Obama won? The last two elections were such huge letdowns, it's weird to have someone I actually believed in and wanted to win, win.
