I don't know whether you watched the recent BBC satirical mockumentary series "Twenty Twenty-six"? Donald Trump getting a US player's red card overlooked so that he could play in the match against Belgium is just the sort of thing that it might have come up with. I too am pleased that it didn't do the US side any good.
I don't pay attention to that sport but heard about that incident (political interference) and am pleased at how badly the team was trounced afterward.
