Welcome to Rec the Thing! This is a comm for reccing fanworks you love and requesting recs for fanworks you're looking for. Recs for fic, fanart, vids, and other forms of fanwork are all welcome here. Our definition of fanwork is very loose: if it can be posted to AO3, you can rec it here. :)
We have three kinds of posts here:
1. Recs Posts where you rec one or more things you liked. You can include recs in the post itself, or you can link back to the recs posted on your own blog/tumblr/etc.
2. Request Posts where you ask for recs of a particular type. These requests can very specific ("Vids about Sam Wilson, please!"), very broad ("Please rec me your favorite pining fic"), or anything in between. Other folks reply with recs that fit the criteria. Self-reccing is welcome here, as long as it fits the request!
3. Community Recs Posts every Thursday, where anyone who wants to can comment with recs.

yourlibrarian- How Does Your Garden Grow? by scioscribe. "Miss Marple knew all about gardens. The art of growing things—all manner of things—was ancient." Captures Miss Marple perfectly, and gives it more of an eerie turn than Christie would. Wonderfully done.
- Misfire (Reload) by FletcherHonorama. Black Sails tale where Miranda doesn't get shot. Almost all taking place within Peter's house, a gamble with a happy ending.
- Queen's Gambit by bedlamsbard. Part 2 of the Wake the Storm series, Obi Wan, Anakin and Padme end up on a Naboo that has taken the lead in seceding from the Republic. Love how this reveals how much Padme could have done in the original trilogy.
- Buffy S1 Finale Crochet Doll by girlpire. Adorable Buffy figure. The outfit was great but the hair was the kicker!
- The Killing Frost by Sholio. "When a scientific mission goes wrong, the Daedalus crashes on an ice planet along with Atlantis's top scientists and a ruthless saboteur." Wonderfully plot heavy gen tale largely from Rodney's perspective as a reliance on tech gets challenged and a detective he is not.

yourlibrarian- Wild Boys [FANVID] byberlynn_wohl. Fun edit of the Penguins of Madagascar movie, and it doesn't shy away from using the whole song.
- The Crochet Buffyverse by girlpire. Wonderful crochet dolls of various Buffyverse characters (the collection is ongoing).
- Francis Forever by Bo Burton. Vid utilizing animated drawings depicting Merlin and Arthur, and a happier ending for them.
- We Didn't Start the Fire by beccatoria. I've seen a couple of vids using this song, and it's always interesting to see what's going to get chosen for each historical item. This one was for Avatar: the Last Airbender + The Legend of Korra and there are some really wonderful (and funny!) choices. Definitely the sort of vid you'll want to rewatch a few times just to appreciate it all.
- The Nutcracker by gyrhs. Merlin and Arthur comic about an Arthur transformed into a nutcracker, and his rescue. Wonderful art!

doranwenI've continued adding fics to my db, as I'm going through the Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman fandom currently. Normally on any given week I might add one or two favorite fics at most, ones that I periodically re-read (though all fics I add are enjoyable to some degree), and those are easy to post in a comment to the community recs post. But I started adding one old favorite author, Nan Smith, and realized there were too many of her fics that I would want to share, so I decided to wait until I was done adding her fic, and now I can share them all, organized by the series. She wrote a number of series and given that they're only hosted on FFN (not the easiest place to navigate) and the fandom-specific archive (which has a separate series guide but no organized page with links that I know of), I decided I should make a post of my favorite series and share with everyone.
Nan's specialty is blending a good casefic with B-plot, especially in progressing an overall investigation over multiple fics, so if that sounds up your alley, check these out! While I highly recommend watching the Lois & Clark show itself, most people have enough background knowledge of Superman to be able to follow many of the stories written for the show, so these may be more canon-blind-friendly than most.
There's nearly 1.7 million words in all of these fics combined, so this should keep you reading for quite some time!
