Below is the Master List of fics/ficlets etc in the pan-HBO-War-Fandoms-Modern-AU. I've broken them down by the years in which they are set. All different sections of the 'verse are here.

Even though I have about a zillion other things to write, I always like to have ficlets on the side to help distract me (and keep me from punching the screen in a fit of damn you, Leckie. Therefore: PROMPT ME!

Be it for fanmixes, ficlets, time stamp meme ficlets, character background or headcanon, domestic fic, etc etc etc, ye go forth and prompt. Everyone. Lurkers, anons, random people wondering who this "rivlee" chick is and why she writes cracked out aus, prompt, my dear fellows, prompt.

I only ask that you limit it to war fandom or Justified (for headcanon/mixes) since that's the kind of fandon mindset I need to be in right now.

Everyone feel free to ignore.

Fulfilling my goal of ACTUALLY keeping track of it this year.

Jan to March )
rivlee: (tv: genkill walt)
-My plans for Friday are to basically finish up the Nashville 'verse time stamp meme prompt requests from ages ago. (Blame Leckie, he ate my brain for most of the year.) I just have to do a quick Gen Kill re-watch to get a better feel for Q-Tip. (And also to try and get my brain away from my thoughts that of the rap songs Q-Tip should start Gibson off with, 2Pac's How Do U Want It? would be too damn forward.) (Also, that's clearly one of the songs Ray-Ray belts out while working at Allison's and needs to be left for when I finally get around to doing a full out Ray/Walt mix.)

-Do the quick and dirty capping of the latest Justified episode so both Nat and I can have our moments with JPitts' forearms/neck. (I want to kiss the person who picks out the wardrobe in that show.) (Really, I could kiss everyone involved in that show.)

-Start planning my FFV fic. SO EXCITED. So much research, b/c it's me, but so excited.

Basically, it's a weekend of Gen Kill and TP, but with me working in the background on a bunch of fics with nothing but the BoB crew.

And now, to Gen Kill.
rivlee: (tv: bob bill check one)
I'm off for three days. This is a rare thing that doesn't usually happen until my hours get cut in half during the summer time. Anyway, since my great outlook for the next three day is "never leave the house," (I actually really shouldn't go out since our pollen count is currently through the roof and my allergies are, in a word, HELL right now), it is time for the Time Stamp Meme: Part Three.

Give me one of my own stories, and a time at some point after the end of the story or before the story started, and I'll write you at least 100 words of what happened then, whether it's five minutes before the story begins or ten years in the future.

All HBO War Fandom verses and aus welcome.

(I know I still have a few to finish from last time as well, those are going on the list (Gibson/Runner FWB in Nashville verse for Nat and Q-Tip teaching Gibson to Rap and Anything Leyden for Kay) but since Leckie ate my soul in the middle of that time, I'm tacking them on to this round. Both of you please feel free to request other prompts too.)

In other news:
-Watched the Oscars last night. It was, um, yeah. Anyway, happy Midnight in Paris one for Best Original Screenplay. My love for that movie knows no bounds.

-Currently reading The Monster of Florence by Douglas Preston with Mario Spezi. It's pretty much taking up most of my free time. A very quick read which also offers many insights into Italian culture. (And makes me yearn for that dear time when I was researching my original Grad School Thesis on the Southern Question in Italy and how the focus has shifted with increased attention to various immigrant groups. Yeah, I knew how to party hard in grad school, let me tell you.) (If I go back to NC State for my Second Master's in Public History or for my BA in Anthro, you better believe I'm going to try to work that thesis again.) (I just also default to Irish-American identity and history, the debate and subject which was my final Capstone topic for my MA) (I bet none of you were expecting random academic ramble, were you?)

-About to go watch The Tempest. It is my all time fav Shakespeare play, so I am curious to see how the latest movie handles it. Though, I don't think it will ever top the time I saw it at the Globe. It was only done with 3 main players, the actors switching back and forth between roles, but it was so.damn.good.

I have a lot of thoughts this morning that have been rambling around in my head for a few days now, so I'm going to get sort of long and chatty here. Feel free to ignore.

Darling, I was born a rambling woman )

And that was a post. Hope everyone enjoys their weekend! I'm off to work until about 11pm tonight. The joys of being a part-time cashier, you gladly take any shift you can get b/c student loan bills do not pay themselves.

So, finally updating with an actual post.

TN was awesome. From the family time to the sites to the food, great time all around. I got some low carb-low cal cooking tips from my Aunt, I was horribly spoiled by my whole family, and I got to spend time with my Grandpa.

I also watched, like, 10 movies. My Uncle keeps a 45 page list of all the dvds they own and weekends are full of movie watching. From what I can remember, we watched Stonehenge Apocalypse, Saints and Sinners, 50-50, The Ides of March, State of Play, Contagion, Abduction and Moneyball. I know I'm missing a few, but still, it was a lot of damn movies. I think my ass left an imprint on their couch.

It was a great way to spend my birthday. The most relaxed one I've had in ages.

Since I went through 4 airports on my vacay, and therefore 4 planes, I did pick up a nasty little bug. It's gone from a viral infection to a bacterial infection, and at this point I'm waiting to see what it does next. My doctor gave me some drugs to deal with my current double ear infection. As long as the room stops spinning, I'm good.

Registered for AZ 2012. Now all I have to do is request the days off and buy my train tickets.

Currently been amusing myself by listening to 2cello's version of Smooth Criminal. I ended up buying the whole album (really good sale, thanks, amazon) and now just listen to their cello covers over and over again.

Over the weekend, when not cursing my ears and the plague, I got hooked on a completely ridic romance e-book series. It's The Warder Series by Mary Calmes. No regrets, at all.

Speaking of writing, [personal profile] sapper and myself had an Epic Leckie writing fest over the past, oh, half-year. The stories are finally posted. Go read her amazing fic Turnpike now.

She was also kind enough to do a mix for my story So Spoke the Wanderer.

That's all I've got for this post. I'm now going back to my own mini Burn Notice marathon.
rivlee: (music: turner bw guitar)
So, back in 2011 I put up a fanmix prompt post to give a break from the typical ficlet prompt posts.

It's now that time again.

So, give me a character/group/ship/verse of my crazy mind from any of the HBO War Fandom shows (or Tolkien) (and maybe Bandom) (hell, let's throw Justified in there too) and I will give you a 4-10 track mini-mix. Last time around we had fun with Team Leckie, Harry (which turned into Harry/Kitty b/c how can it not), Luz, Webster, and Faramir. I'd love to see what comes along this time.
rivlee: (Default)
I actually have Saturday off. I am excited about this, so much.

Justified season 2 arrived in the mail. Season 3 starts, like, next week. SO VERY EXCITED.

Now, a question. Dear Flist? Anyone willing to help beta a ~34k ulta-ridic, Leckie-focused AU fic? I, as always, fail at grammar.

I'm very much back in a Tolkien fandom frame of mind. I've started to re-read all the books. I'm moving all the old fic from my lj to a DW comm, and I'm just getting the itch in my veins to write for it again. It's a good thing to feel.

Also, two weeks until Nashville! I can't believe that's coming up. It'll be a week out of CLT, with the family, having a good time.

I'm mostly based out of DW now (rivlee there too), but I'm still going to crosspost to lj and check my flist there.
rivlee: (Default)
Right, so 2012 is here. I am going to try and be all active and use my DW since outside of customized comment pages, lj is giving me a massive headache.

Let's see, fandom plans for the New Year: Pick up some Tolkien again. I have the urge for a while now, and re-reading The Hobbit has really made that urge soar. I have until Dec. to finish "A Journey Begins," so that's going to be my goal. Even if I want to do nothing but write Gondolin fic.

So very many plans for the war fandom fic. Some of it you will see quite soon. Trust me when I say it will be epic.

I need to catch up on The Dresden Files book series. And make more of an active effort to get invovled in that fandom.

More fanmixes.

To actually complete some of the 200+ half finished ficlets on my comptuer.

To get back into anime/manga, so when I go to AZ in May, I'll actually KNOW half of what's going on.

To enjoy the year. To try and not have the crippling blocks and doubts that have really held up my writing/participation these last few years.

This is just full of everything I've written in the ridic-au. It's unbeated, it's not pretty, but since it keeps getting lost in all my file shuffling, I'm posting it here so I'll always be able to find it. Again, not meant to be read, just be put up for the sake of my paranoia over things getting lost.
