Myalgia is muscle pain. It is a symptom of many diseases and disorders. It can involve ligaments, tendons and fascia (the soft tissues that connect muscles, bones and organs).[1]

Injuries (trauma) and certain medicine and illegal drugs can cause myalgia,[1] in addition to illnesses. The most common causes are overuse or over-stretching of a muscle or group of muscles.

Myalgia without a traumatic history or cause can caused by viral infections.
