Okay, chances are good that I'm giving in and going for it. Where do I start? What do I need to know? Tips, pointers, guidelines? I really have no clue, but I've read some of the fic and am intrigued by what I'm finding. Help me, Homestuck fans, you're my only hope.

Is there a way to not see the green header thing that LJ has up? I'll take an opt-out, a Stylish fix, a Greasmonkey script, or anything else you've got. The color combo makes not good things happen in my eyes. It's literally painful to look at, lol.

Anyone else having notification issues for LJ? I'm getting comment notifications, but not notifications of new posts in comms I'm tracking.

I mean, my notifs are always screwy (they only go to my LJ inbox, I get an actual email about 15-20% of the time even though I'm supposed to get email notifs for everything), but this is worse than normal.

Question rirst! For my own edification, I'm curious, guys. What are your favorite pairings? Canon or not, slash, het, femslash, poly, anything. I'm mostly wondering about fandoms that we share, so that's anything in Stargate, Sanctuary, Hawaii Five-0, Marvel, or DC fandoms. I'm not asking for your reasons for shipping who and what you do (though if you want to tell me, I certainly won't complain). At this point, I'm just looking for a list.

Now for a meme! Give me a character from any of my fandoms (again, that's Stargate, Sanctuary, Hawaii Five-0, Marvel, or DC) and I will tell you:
-what I like about them
-what I dislike about them
-who I ship them with
-something I believe about their past
-something I believe about their future
-a random quote by/about them from fic or canon (and I will tell you which I choose, haha)

(Feel free to do one part without doing the other, if you'd rather not participate in the ship thing or the meme. I'm not terribly picky.)

Is there some sort of ?style=mine patch for tumblr? I'm not sure if 'yes' will make my life easier or harder, but if it's there I'll be happier at any rate.

So, anyone in the mood to beta some Clint/Bucky porn that's roughly 3k?

Seriously, 3k, what even.

Am looking for good caps of Steve McGarrett from the season finale, where he's in Combat Ops Special Ninja gear, preferably looking sneaky instead of pointing a gun at Jameson (the only ones I can find, argh). Any and all help will be appreciated :)

I'm helping out over at Imagefandom_stocking, peeking in stockings to see whose might need a little more love. If you're in the mood to write a drabble or make some icons or rec some fics, please please please PM me and let me know what fandoms you can do and how many stockings you'd like to fill (even one is a huge help!) - there are some stockings that desperately need some love, and I know you guys are awesome and giving and can help fill some very deserving stockings :)

Anyone interested in beta reading a Sanctuary piece for me? Helen/John and little Ashley, though she's only awake for about six words of it. I haven't quite finished it, but I'd really, really like someone to look it over for me if anyone is willing.

So! I'm leaving on Saturday for a little family-visiting time (they're going hunting; I'm... not; they're no fun like that, refusing to give the blind girl a gun, psh, I still aim better than my cousin Kaleb). I will most probably be without internet for this time, so I'm looking to grab a few nice long fics to keep me entertained while they're traipsing through the woods. If you have any recs, any fandom I like (or seem like I would like, really, I'm not gonna be picky), please do let me know so I can nab them.

For those of you who celebrate, happy turkey day. Also, go Packers, because it's going to be a game this year.

I'll be back on Tuesday/early Wednesday, so I'll talk to y'all then. Don't do anything I wouldn't do while I'm away... or if you do, take vid so I can see. ;D

Chugging merrily along!

I'm possibly maybe in the market for a grammar-and-punctuation beta for this baby, too. G will give it her usual comb-through, which is awesome, and Imagepadfootthegrim is reading along as I write it and catching a good amount of typos, but if anyone wants to read this through for commas and semicolons and whipping my run-on sentences into shape, I'd love to talk to you about that possibility. G usually does that too, but she's not going to be able to give this story much more than a once-over, because she's cramming it in between her finals and when law school picks back up for her, which isn't all that long. The more I can take off her shoulders, the better. :)

(That might be a superfluous request; I'm honestly not sure yet. I figured it was probably better to ask about it now just in case, before it gets close to the deadline for polished stories and I suddenly pop up asking for a favor in the form of a beta of a 40k story with possible punctuation errors. Better safe than sorry, and all that :D)

15586 / 40000 words. 39% done!

Does anyone have a copy of that Abbey Road-esque photo from Watch Magazine this past April? I can only find the two halves of the photo separate from each other and I'm crap at puzzles.

So with just over a month to go, I'm officially restarting my Imagefive0bang! G has decided to put law school ahead of writing fic (PSHHH) and, as such, we're shelving that story until we can both work on i together. So! I'm starting a new fic, one all on my lonesome, and I'm wondering which one you guys would be more interested to read:

Poll #1781138 bigbang!

what should I write 40k of?

more of the pizza shop AU!
5(10.4%)
more of the art thief/interpol agent AU!
18(37.5%)
more of something else that I'll tell you in the comments!
2(4.2%)
IDEC, write all the things!
11(22.9%)
ticky!
12(25.0%)

The problem with LJ: we all think we are so close, but really, we know nothing about each other. So I want you to ask me something you think you should know about me. Something that should be obvious, but you have no idea about. Ask away.

Modding question!

Also vididng question.

(More related than you might think.)

Imagestormylullabye and I are modding the H50 40k bigbang (Imagefive0bang ). Signups start next week, but we had a question that I honestly have no idea how to answer, so I figured I'd ask you smart people.

From our guidelines:
What counts as art?
Lots of things! Traditional art, digital art, and manips are all fine. If you want to check that what you have in mind is appropriate, PM a mod or leave a note in the page-a-mod post. We'll discuss it on a case-by-case basis.

Case-by-case basis #1:
Someone wants to do a story trailer kind of vid thing as their art. I really have no problem with this as a concept, and am a little sad at myself for not thinking of a vid as a form of art to begin with, but the problem lies in length. I am an absolutely craptastic vidder, it's never something I'm going to do for fun, and I have no idea how to equate a vid with a story of 40k or more. I feel like the time and effort it takes to plan, write, edit, have beta read, re-edit, and polish a 40k story is massive, and should have a kind of massive vid to go along with it, but I have no clue what that should be. Is a minute appropriate? I want to say no, something that long deserves something longer than that, maybe two minutes or 2:30. But then I think of how long it took me to make that last vid for Imagestargateland (read; way, way too long) and I have to pause, because that was only a minute long, and it took me for-freeling-ever.

So. Opinion time. Should vids be allowed as art for a bigbang? As a bigbang author, how would you feel about getting a vid for your story? As a vidder, what would you say is a good length for a vid that's a companion piece to a 40k story? Please let me know what you're thinking - and engage with each other here, go for it, please. I'd like all the input I  can get. :)

Please and thank you, o wise flist :)
