Ffffffuuuu- will you take a look at the weather outside? I honestly don't know how I'm going to get to the train station without getting soaking wet and covered in leaves. Maybe I should, like, wrap my legs in grocery bags or something so I won't have to spend all day in damp trousers. Oh well, it's so drafty at work they'll prolly dry in a matter of hours anyway.

Autumn cold, here I come.

And I'm still undecided about the Seth Lakeman gig tonight.

In summary: Bitch. Moan. I wish it was 3pm already so I could hurry home and have a nap.

Oh yeah, btw, I wrote 200 words on my NaNo project. SO FAR. But I have a pretty map and a semi!fake language and a fake!history. And a plot plotted out. And a functioning magic system. So ... basically I've reached my world-building goal and can now proceed to play moar Fable III. *shifty eyes*

Also, happy birthday to [livejournal.com profile] fusselbiene!

I might or might not have just eaten a pizza that was way past its expiration date. What can I say, I was hungry and cold and miserable. Now I'm just miserable. That's got to be a good thing, right?

I might or might not be able to make it to the Seth Lakeman gig next week. A colleague and I switched shifts, but nothing is confirmed quite yet.

I might or might not make a new layout tonight if I don't fall asleep on the spot within the next half hour.

This morning I left the house with a newly-bought mp3 of Garrett Hedlund's only song on the Country Strong soundtrack, Chances Are. I first listened to it on the train (at one point I teared up, I'm not even exactly sure why) and, what can I say, instantly turned it into a one-song-playlist (old mp3-player is old). I wish I could link you to a youtube version, but alas, it's not up anywhere just yet.

Work was uneventful - except for me turning into an icicle. I don't even entirely understand why: I wore two layers of shirts (one long-sleeved) and a cardigan. And legwarmers. I guess it's because I only sat around and the ticket counter is a bit of a drafty place. To pass some time I amused myself greatly by secretly reading sporkings of the worst book ever. Is it even a book if it's self-published, though? Anyway, icicle-y fun was had.

[livejournal.com profile] tharafinn will visit tomorrow and we're going to meet [livejournal.com profile] enlothien in Berlin so I won't be around for the weekend. Or on Monday, for that matter. Between this and Fable III I'm really not sure if I should even attempt starting NaNo. I mean, I have my story pretty much sketched out, but actually writing it? I think I'd fall asleep on the keyboard. But, hey, even that's got to be better than Maradonia.

Hah! I just reached the 15k words mark. ^^

My characters just left the sewers. How stereotypical is that? Well, at least my main character isn't naked anymore.

In other news: New/oldish layout. \o/ Oldish because I only changed the graphics and colours. It's nothing zomg!special, but it's not nearly as fugly as the new LJ profile page. XD

6053 words in and somehow my main character ended up naked again. :D

LOL, you could sum up my story perfectly with only three words: nudist!Silent Hill.

I'm 2105 words in. I'd feel accomplished if I didn't get the feeling that what I wrote is a big pile of literary shit. Meh, at least my main character has found out his name. Now I can finally stop confusing my non-existant readers with personal pronouns.

Then again, said main character was naked for most of the first chapter. This story is clearly made of win. :D

Bed now. D:

I don't know if it's because I'm sloshed (I only drank one glass of wine ... what the hell? There were times when I could down half a bottle of tequila and still care for my drunk friends XD), but I just watched the first episode of Life on Mars US and actually liked it. All right, the whole concept is still more or less pointless since the original version will always be superior, but it was definitely watchable. I especially liked it when the writers dared to interpret some things differently. I guess it's because you don't automatically compare these parts to the original version. I do hope that the show continues to go its own way. I'll definitely continue watching, though. Now I'm curious where the whole thing will be going, especially since it's so much better than what they did in the promo. If they keep this up LoM!US might actually be entertaining. Colour me surprised!

I also watched the most recent episode of Heroes )

Thank God there's still Supernatural which I'm slowly adopting as a new!old fandom. Angels for the win! Although I'm still thinking that they're borrowing from the Dresden Files. And two weeks ago someone actually said "Hell's Bells". Come on, who says that apart from Harry Dresden?

Dresden Files/Supernatural crossover, now please.

Btw, amazon shipped Backup today. Yay! I wasn't so sure after they'd sent me an email basically saying that they couldn't guarantee to be able to ship a copy to Germany so I'm even more happy about it. Too bad tomorrow is a holiday in almost all of Germany so it'll probably arrive here on Monday. I'll have more time for NaNo this way, though. Only two more hours to go, yay! And I actually have a plot this time. A real plot with a twist and an ending ... wow, I've never been this prepared for NaNo before. ^^

I know [livejournal.com profile] mondwolf and [livejournal.com profile] radioactivegirl are participating. Anyone else joining in this year? ^^

Okay. I've got a headache, I'm running a fever and my sinuses hate me, but hey, I wrote another three pages on my paper, outlined an essay and wrote an introduction. Phew. Can you feel terrible and accomplished at the same time? :D

Anyway, I've made my mind up about NaNo. There's no way I'll be able to write 35.000 words in ten days, so ... I won't. I'm not feeling particularly bad about it, either. I had already suspected that I wouldn't be able to reach the magical 50k mark this year. There's just so many other things that keep me from writing this time around: a gazillion uni assignments, illness, Mass Effect, fandom ...
Still, I won't abandon my story completely. It has potential and I have a lot of fun just writing, no matter how stupid my main character and his snotty demon friend actually are. XD

So ... err ... feel free to make fun of me now. I'll be over there drowning myself in hot peppermint tea. ;D

I decided to have my hair cut. I know, I already had it cut last weekend, but surprisingly enough I liked it. Now my hair is about 10 cm shorter than it used to be and, I don't know, it feels too weird to say whether I actually like it or not. It was necessary, though. My hair seems much thicker now and yay! it's wavy again! Before the haircut the sheer weight of my hair straightened out all the curls. It's become darker, too, since the summer sun lightened mostly the tips. I guess that, for the time being, I'm not a redhead anymore. Hm. :(

I'm 7.000 words behind on my NaNo story. Stupid paper. I should have finished it by Thursday at the latest and then I'll try to catch up. I actually like my story this year. It needs a lot of polishing, but I feel like all the sprinting and non-editing could be worth it.

What else? Oh yeah, the pair of jeans I ordered back in September finally arrived. I had almost forgotten about them and it was a pleasant surprise that they fit perfectly. Yay! New things to wear! :D

I also decided not to buy Assassin's Creed next week, but to wait until December. Or rather: Until I've finished with Mass Effect which is going to be released on the 23rd. I'd rather take my time with both of the games, like I did with Bioshock. I've been spoiler-free since September, so I'm pretty optimistic that no one will ruin the AC plot twist for me. And even better: Since I switched my 360's default language to English I've been able to enjoy every game I own in its OV. Hooray! No more daft German dubbing for me! Bioshock alone is so much better in English.

Hm. I also finished reading Proven Guilty, but I'll make a seperate (most likely German) post for it.

Wow, today wasn't a complete failure. And that although I had to stay home with a bad case of migraine. Maybe the painkillers made me creative or killed my inner editor. I wrote 5.050 words today and most of them do actually make sense. ^^

No, really, I like my NaNo story this year and I can't wait to write more. Everything seems to be falling in place on its own and so far I haven't encountered any plot holes or stubborn characters. On the contrary, I had some really great ideas while writing, some of which will probably save the great unknown that is the middle part of my story.

Also, to be honest? I can't wait until I get to start on the slashy parts XD
stellify: (NaNo)
In less than six hours NaNo will be starting. Gulp. I must admit that while I do have a plot nothing is really plotted out. I have the main character sketched out, ideas for everyone else, a beginning and an end. That's it. Maybe it's because I'm not taking NaNo very serious this year. I'll try to win, but there probably won't be any 8.000 words-a-day sprints this time. It's my goal to have as much fun as possible with the characters and the plot. Let's see where I'm going to end up. ^^

Until then, have a look at my NaNo banner:

It's mildly scary, you've been warned. )
