Official Couple (trope)
So official, they're the game's logo.
An Official Couple is an active, permanent romantic relationship between two significant characters in a work. They may or may not be legally married, they may or may not be having kids, but they are overtly and explicitly together and they are staying that way, and any Romantic False Leads in the work clearly do not have a chance.

This trope is broad by nature and has many potential permutations, some of which are subtropes in their own right. Stereotypical heroic romances typically have The Hero and their Love Interest, oftentimes a White Male Lead and a Satellite Love Interest, though newer stories frequently play with it by gender inverting one or both or upgrading the Love Interest into a Deuteragonist role. Romance fiction is usually dedicated to following a single couple on a Romance Arc from their original Meet Cute to becoming the Official Couple at or near the end of the story, with varying amounts of Will They or Won't They?. Less-idealized works often interrogate the nature of the relationship: the participants in the couple might find themselves on opposite sides of arguments and have to find a compromise in order to stay together.

Some important notes on what relationships do and do not qualify as Official Couples:

  • First, works can have multiple Official Couples, and an Official Couple is not required to involve one or more main characters. However, they do need to get a modicum of focus by the narrative: one-off characters in serialized works who are a couple, or characters whose significant others are wholly offscreen and only mentioned once or twice, don't qualify.
  • Second, this trope is strictly about binary, one-on-one relationships: polyamorous relationships are disqualified since they aren't technically "couples", as are harems. The exception is some cases of Supporting Harems or Unwanted Harems, where there can be a primary couple and various other Hopeless Suitors and hangers-on.
  • Third, we don't count gaming examples in Tabletop RPGs, Video Games, and Visual Novels where a Player Character ending up with a particular Love Interest is a matter of player choice. The exception is cases where Cutting Off the Branches declares a particular Love Interest to be official in later works in the continuity.
  • Finally, do not confuse the Official Couple trope with Shipping, which is an Audience Reaction where fans of a work wish two or more characters would get together romantically. Fan Works, such as Fan Fiction, Abridged Series, and Doujinshi may have been inspired by Shipping (e.g. Slash Fic), and can contain their own internal examples of Official Couples involving Canon characters, but they need to be listed as examples for that fan work, not treated as if they were official in Canon.

An Official Couple is a possible resolution to a Love Triangle or Love Dodecahedron. Contrast No Romantic Resolution and Maybe Ever After, where a romance is teased but is never resolved on-screen, and Temporary Love Interest and Romantic False Lead, where the romance doesn't last. For couples that are not yet official, see tropes under Will They or Won't They?, especially Ship Tease and Unresolved Sexual Tension, which may happen before the Official Couple goes through a Relationship Upgrade and becomes "official".

Subtropes of the Official Couple include:

    Asian Animation
  • Lamput: Mr. Moustache and Ms. Lipstick are shown to be a couple as far back as the Season 1 episode "Bus Stop", where Mr. Moustache beats up Specs Doc for seemingly looking at his girlfriend funny. One Season 4 episode, "Wrong Date", is about the docs ruining their date during a Loy Krathong festival.
  • In Pleasant Goat and Big Big Wolf, the villain Wolffy is married to Wolnie, and the two have shown quite a few times that, no matter how much the latter beats up the former for constantly failing to capture the goats for them to eat, the two genuinely love and care for each other.
  • Vary Peri has a couple of examples which are also crossed with Interspecies Romance:
    • After starting out the series as Vitriolic Best Buds, Mousse Benetta and Mocha Dennis slowly progress to a romantic relationship over the course of the series.
    • Honey Peach and Tiramisu Cavan develop mutual crushes on each ohter when the two participate in the creation of a birdhouse and eventually start dating.

    Comic Books

The DCU

Marvel Universe

  • Mr. Fantastic and the Invisible Woman in the Fantastic Four.
  • X-Men:
    • Jean Grey and Cyclops (a.k.a Scott Summers), at least when they're both alive.
    • Though more on-again off-again, Gambit and Rogue are second only to the above as the iconic X-Men couple. After their surprise wedding, they now headline their own book, Mr. and Mrs. X.
    • In X-Men: Gold, the lead couple is Colossus and Kitty Pryde, at least until she bolted at their wedding.
    • Mystique (AKA Raven Darkholme) and Destiny (AKA Irene Adler). While Mystique has had many flings with different characters throughout the book's history, Destiny is one of the very few people she truly loves and has no animosity towards at any point.
  • Hank Pym and Janet Van Dyne, though both have dated other people.
  • Hank's good friend Clint and his long-time wife Bobbi, albeit not without a lot of trauma. They're now Amicably Divorced, though its not expected to last given they're constantly being teased as about to get back together.
  • Wiccan and Hulkling, Young Avengers.
  • In Runaways, Nico and Alex become one at the start of Volume 1. Chase and Gert also get together at the end of the Volume.
  • The Incredible Hulk: Bruce Banner and Betty Ross. They're currently on the outs, in the wake of Betty returning from being Mostly Dead.
  • Spider-Man: Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson. There's been attempts to break them apart, but inevitably they tend to get back together. Even during the late 2000s/2010s period, they're constantly teased as about to reunite, and various alternate universe stories depict them still together and happy. One of the first things Nick Spencer did after taking over the title from Dan Slott was to officially get Peter and MJ back together.

Others

  • Invincible:
    • Mark Grayson with Atom Eve, who get together not long after Mark broke up with Amber, and later have a child together named Terra. Considering that Mark Grayson is inpired by Peter Parker and Atom Eve is inspired by Mary-Jane Watson, it's a given. Unlike that relationship though, Eve is also a superhero, leading them to being a Battle Couple, though both members end up suffering from a bunch of trauma in their relationship.
    • Debbie and Nolan is a Zig-Zagged Trope. At the start of the comic, Nolan and Debbie are Happily Married and have been so for 20 years, having a son called Mark Grayson, while Debbie teaches the Viltrumite about the nature of humanity. Said Viltrumite later reveals the species to be secretly preparing to conquer the Earth, which is why he killed the Guardians of the Globe. After betraying Earth and nearly killing Mark in the process, they break-up, but Nolan and Debbie would eventually reunite after Nolan's Heel–Face Turn. It ends in tragedy when Nolan is killed by Thragg near the finale.
  • Sonic and Sally in Sonic the Hedgehog (Archie Comics). Ever since the earliest stories in the comic, the mutual crush between Sonic and Sally has been shown in continualImage, obviousImage displayImage, despite constant, arguably excessive Will They or Won't They? throughout the history of the comic. In later issues, it was revealed that Sonic has become herImage consort, and the future stories confirm that they have children and rule Mobius together. However, following the events of the Super Genesis Wave, their relationship was erased from existence, and they seem content to be Just Friends.
  • Rewind and Chromedome in Transformers: More than Meets the Eye. The exclusive toys sold at Fun Publication even featured them, based on their IDW designs, together.
    • Lug and Anode, Tailgate and Cyclonus, and Drift and Ratchet eventually join them.
  • If there are two official couples in the X-Wing Rogue Squadron comics, it's Tycho Celchu/Winter and Nrin/Ibitsam. Both romances are fed out bit by bit for the entire length of the comic's run.

  • BlazBlue Alternative: Remnant: Chapter 50 has Yang and Pyrrha confess their feelings to each other and become a couple.

  • In the Doki Doki Literature Club Loops, after Natsuki shares her views of love to Sayori at Blake and Yang's wedding (Natsuki doesn't feel like love is for her, believing she was only put in the game for Tsundere value, Yuri grabs Natsuki by the chestplate, hoists her up and kisses her. The duo have been together ever since.
  • Dungeon Keeper Ami has Cathy and Jered. They serve as a Beta Couple to their boss, Keeper Mercury and her "relationship" with Jadeite.

Unfortunately she died during a trial test. Later Mandy read her Secret Diary and foud out that Jessika had fallen in love with Asuka and thought that she had been unfaithful (even though Jessika had not cheated and she actually shipped Shinji and Asuka together.
  • Everyday Craziness in Pontypandy:
    • Like in canon, Helen and Mike, Bronwyn and Charlie, and Lizzie and Joe are all Happily Married.
    • "To Melt This Aussie's Heart" shows that Tom and Ben live together and usually share a bed, with the word "boyfriend" even appearing within the first paragraph.
    • In "Valentine's Daze", Gabby meets a girl named Svetlana at a Valentine's Day festival, and after saving her from choking via the Heimlich, they dance together. Subsequent appearances confirm them to be in a relationship.
    • Briar's first appearance in "No Power, No Problem" quickly establishes that they are romantically interested in Penny, which Penny reciprocates. After several episodes of ambiguity, "Wellness Check-In" explicitly refers to Penny as Briar's girlfriend.
  • With an Anguished Declaration of Love at the end of Reality Is Fluid, Captain Kanril Eleya and Lieutenant Commander Reshek Gaarra of the Bait and Switch (STO)-verse are together for good after having danced around each other for months. The author confirmed it in an edit note on Memory Gamma wiki. No word yet on how they're working around the fact that them being together violates regulations (she's his direct superior).
  • Galaxy Angel Retold:
    • The fic sees Original Character Arnold Williams develop a romantic relationship with Milfeulle Sakuraba while Tact pairs with Ranpha. Like the Galaxy Angel games, the fanfic is a six-installment series split between the two trilogies, with the second trilogy seeing Kazuya pair up with Lily; a seventh installment, listed as a crossover between Galaxy Angel and the 2016 remake of Doom, is added in which Arnold and Milfie have a baby boy at the end (conceived in a related side story) that Arnold names after a fallen friend he met during the events of the seventh main installment. Also paired up are Arnold's friend Clayton with Chitose and Kazuya with Lily.
    • All four girls (Milfie, Ranpha, Chitose, and Lily), plus a visiting Vanilla from the Galaxy Angel Intervention universe (paired with that story's Original Character William Johnson), all end up pregnant at the same time as seen in side story "Galactic Mood Swings".
    • What-ifs stories in the series also exist, with all three males flipping romantic partners amongst the remaining five Angels.
    • Fanfiction author Khaos Omega deploys a few of this trope in his own variation. The main trilogy (only of Galaxy Angel II, though) pairs Tact with Vanilla, male Original Character lead Jace Davies with Anise Azeat, Kazuya with Natsume ( after the other four Angels, led by an early-returned Lily, set up a scheme that confirms the Jace/Anise pairing), Almo with her canon crush Lester (through an assist that's actually unrelated to Tact), and, very surprisingly, Tequila as another of Jet Brazie's Rainbow Angels. Tequila later tweaks her name to Takara ahead of a 2304 Series change that reassigns her old spot to the Lily of the same multiverse as Jet's own Anise (the chronology's titular Amethyst Angel). A what-if version also exists, but with a different male original character named Marty Jordan in the role of Arnold Williams ( Khaos Christmas 2677 later confirms the original Marty's official girl is Chitose.)
  • God of War: Chains of the Heart: Atreus and Angrboða are shown to have become a couple during the five-year Time Skip between the events of God of War Ragnarök and the fic's events. After getting a talk from Sora, Thrúd's able to get over her nervousness regarding her feelings for Skjöldr and the two become a couple as well.
  • Junior Officers
    • Tweak and Anita, who have been together for an unspecified amount of years prior to the series beginning. They get engaged at the end of Season 2.
    • Kitsune and Akio, who have been married for about a decade and have two children together.
    • Lekona and Blythe, who are childless unlike Kitsune and Akio, but still Happily Married.
    • As of "Heal", Shellington and Deborah finally admit their feelings and get together.
  • In Kara of Rokyn, Nas-Er and Hira -the main character's manager and personal trainer, respectively- tie the knot.
  • Aliens/Once Upon a Time (2011) fanfic Monsters: Regina and Emma officially get together at the end of the story and basically adopt the orphaned Henry.
  • In Touhou Odyssey we have Byleth and Dorothea and Mario and Princess Peach who do get married here.
  • In pleased to meet you (hope you guess my name)Image Katarina and Maria with Maria falling in love with Katarina after the latter thanks Maria for healing Katarina's arm and saying that Maria will be able to help lots of people and everyone will love her no matter what. At the end of chapter 2, Maria confesses to Katarina and Katarina realizes she does like Maria and they end up kissing and the fic ends with them together.
  • By the end of The Many Dates of Danny Fenton, Danny and Kara become a full couple, with an epilogue showing their future together. Although there are alternate endings where Danny choose a different girl and still ended up happy, the author has expressed plans for a series of shorts starring Danny and Kara as a couple.
  • In My Huntsman Academia, Izuku's warm and understanding personality begins to win over the hearts of his female friends over the course of the story. Ultimately, it's Yang who asks him out first.
  • My Little Pony: Nine Elements: Applejack and Caramel are this from the beginning of the story. As of Book 4, "Leap of Faith", they're engaged.
  • A New Life Era: The Recovery Part 2Image has a scene where Amy Jr. and Moe discuss becoming a couple.
  • The Night Unfurls: Sanakan and Hugh are acknowledged by the narrative plus any character that notice their dynamic (including The Protagonist Kyril) to be a definite item.
  • #14 (MHA):
    • Aizawa and Yamada are married in this fic, with Shinso as their adopted son.
    • Bakugo and Kirishima eventually get together and marry one another near the fic's ending. Ochaco is also heavily implied to have married to Iida, having taken his last name.
  • Brock and Pike Queen Lucy are engaged to each other in Pokémon Reset Bloodlines, and it's hinted that Brock plans to propose to her soon.
  • Prehistoric Earth:
  • The Second Try: Koichi Yamadera and his wife in this story and the sequel Aki-chan's Life. They were the owners of the market-garden where Shinji and Asuka lived in the post-Impact world. After going back to the past, Shinji and Asuka visited them twice, and eventually they offered selling their old house to the pair of time-travelers.
  • Shattered Skies: The Morning Lights:
  • In Superman story Superman of 2499: The Great Confrontation, Alan Kent and Katherine de Ka'an were two thirds of a love triangle until Kath chose Alan over his brother Adam.
  • In Things Inolving Shipgirls That Are No Longer Allowed and More Things Inolving Shipgirls That Are No Longer Allowed we have Yamato and Enterprise who are shown to be dating in Chapter 19 and both end up getting (somehow) pregnant and having two daughters, Yoshino and Hope. As you might expect they are a Badass Family.
  • To the New World:
    • Miquella and Eira start out Happily Married and continue to be so throughout the series.
    • Dunstan and Elisabeth get married in the gap between We Make Our Own Light and its sequel.
    • Sirris and Amalie have a Relationship Upgrade halfway through the aforementioned sequel.
  • Unbreakable Red Silken Thread
    • Heather and Cody become this after a few chapters.
    • Lindsay and Tyler, mentioned several times in passing though not (yet) shown, are still the same as they were back during Total Drama.
    • Jo and Brick.
    • Jasmine and Sammy.
    • Although they met differently in this story's universe, Noah and Emma are also this.

    Films — Animation

    Films — Live-Action
  • When Across the Universe (2007) begins, Jude is happily dating Molly and Lucy is happily dating Daniel. Then Jude and Lucy find each other, and a plot ensues. Also, Sadie and Jojo, much to Prudence's chagrin.
  • Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker, as well as Emmett Brown and Clara Clayton, in Back to the Future. The former is already established as such since the first movie, further reinforced by the end of the third when Marty manages to prevent an accident that would have left him disabled in the future portrayed in the second movie (2015), thus leading to a more prosperous relationship in the new future. The latter is born as a result of a lucky change in history, as Clara was fated to die before Marty and Emmett saved her life in September 1885; they're revealed to have two children (Jules and Verne, collectively named after the science fiction writer) by the end of the third movie.
  • Erin's Guide to Kissing Girls: Erin and her friend Liz have been the best of friends since kindergarten. When Liz finally admits her feelings for Erin at the end, they share a Dance of Romance in the hallway, signifying that they've become this.
  • Final Destination 4: Nick and Lori are the only lead couple in the series who are in a stable relationship throughout the entirety of their film. They get a Sickeningly Sweethearts moment in their first scene, live together and make decisions together, and each seems to care more about the other's survival than their own.
  • Peeta and Katniss in The Hunger Games.
  • The official couples in Harry Potter are, surprising absolutely no one, the same as in the novels, lampshaded in the last film when Neville screams his love for Luna Lovegood during the Battle of Hogwarts but, after the battle, Neville and Luna sit silently saying nothing, implying they did not become a couple.
  • Marvel Cinematic Universe:
  • James Bond and Tracy di Vincenzo. This is the film in which the (in)famous Casanova finally decides to settle down. Pity about the Diabolus ex Machina. Three decades of movies later, and he almost has another in Elektra King. Pity about her being the Femme Fatale behind the terrorists. Interestingly enough, Bond was intended to have a steady girlfriend in Sylvia TrenchRunning Gag of him always being called away on missions when they're about to have a moment but this was dropped after two films.
  • The relationship between Bond and Vesper Lynd in Casino Royale plays with that where this relationship compromises the mission and the death of Lynd haunts Bond for the rest of the films where Daniel Craig starred, despite making with Madeleine Swann another Official Couple that prevails until No Time to Die separate them.
  • In Our Miss Brooks, the cinematic finale to the series of the same name, official couple Miss Brooks and Mr. Boynton finally get married.
  • Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann in the Pirates of the Caribbean films, complete with the most awesome wedding imaginable in the third movie.
  • Neo and Trinity in The Matrix are together throughout the original trilogy, and The Matrix Resurrections more-or-less explicitly confirms them as soul mates who will always find their way back to each other.
  • The Rocky film series has Rocky and Adrian, whose relationship actually forms the emotional core of the first movie (alongside the big boxing match). They become a couple halfway through the first movie, get married in the second one, and they remain happily married until Adrian passes away before Rocky Balboa.
  • Sky High (2005) has Will and Gwen which gives way to Will and Layla after Gwen proves to be using him all along.
  • The Sorcerer's Apprentice has Dave and Becky.
  • In Star Trek Into Darkness, Spock and Uhura are still going strong.
  • After a Will They or Won't They? tease spanning the whole series, Riker and Troi were definitively shown as a couple in Star Trek: Insurrection, and Star Trek: Nemesis made the pairing even more official by opening with their wedding.
  • Sam and Mikaela in the Transformers (Film Series). Later, they breakup and Sam gets his real true love, Carly.
  • Sam and Quorra from TRON: Legacy. And in the first film, Tron and Yori - and their User counterparts Alan and Lora. The deleted scenes and novelization play it up.
  • Twilight:
    • Edward and Bella are the main romantic couple of the series, although there is a love triangle that takes place between Bella, Edward and Jacob.
    • Other confirmed couples include Jasper and Alice, Emmett and Rosalie, Carlisle and Esme, and later on Jacob and Renesmee.
  • X-Men (Film Series):
    • X-Men 1: While not explicitly mentioned in the movie, Jean Grey and Scott Summers are described as each other's fiancé(e) in promotional materials.
    • X2: X-Men United: Rogue and Bobby Drake are in the early stages of a romantic relationship, and their challenge is dealing with her mutant ability, as she can kill someone with a prolonged touch.
    • X-Men: Days of Future Past: Iceman and Kitty Pryde in The Rogue Cut. In the Alternate Timeline, that seems to have been erased because Bobby is with Rogue again, and Kitty is presumably with Colossus.
    • Deadpool (2016): Wade Wilson and Vanessa Carlysle are engaged.
    • X-Men: Apocalypse: Erik and Magda are married.

    Theatre
  • & Juliet: Zigzagged. What could be a more iconic Official Couple than Romeo and Juliet? But in this play, William Shakespeare's wife Anne Hathaway rewrites the ending so that Juliet doesn't commit suicide, and tries to move on with her life. Later, a rebelling William revives Romeo and writes him back into the play. While Juliet loves Romeo, she wonders if maybe they weren't really meant to be. By the end, however, even Anne admits that Romeo truly is Juliet's soulmate—though the characters agree to take things slower this time around.

    Visual Novels
  • Tomoya and Nagisa in CLANNAD. While it is a Dating Sim, Nagisa has both the anime, the movie, the cover of the game and the after story (plus its anime) on her side.
  • Kurou Daijuuji and Al-Azif in Demonbane. The visual novel allows to choose one of three heroines, but the sequel, Kishin Hishou Demonbane, confirms Kurou and Al as the Official Couple (with kids and all, though it's a little complicated...)
  • Higurashi: When They Cry does not have one, but was by Word of God supposed to be Keiichi and Mion. However, that idea dropped right after strong hints, along with Keiichi and Rena. Also, the pairing: Satoshi and Shion tied with the former two pairings, all being non-canon.
  • Nasuverse:
    • Tsukihime and Fate/stay night have multiple official couples in each game, due to the multiple routes and the author's "every route is canon" stance. Each has a "default" couple however, belonging to the first route in their game and being the most common pairing in spinoffs such as anime or manga.
    • Technically, she doesn't even really have an appearance except in the first two routes and Shiki can end up with any of five girls, but Arcueid/Shiki is the default official couple in Tsukihime. Her own path is first, the anime is based on her and the manga is based on her. Oh, and despite Melty Blood supposedly being based off Satsuki's route, Sion mentions that Shiki and Arcueid are lovers, though apparently they don't live together.
    • Fate/stay night has Shirou/Saber, Shirou/Rin, and Shirou/Sakura, thanks to the Nasuverse rule that all routes are canon, so all couples are canon.
  • Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney – Trials and Tribulations has Ron and Desirée DeLite, a married couple introduced in the game's second case, with Ron being the case's defendant who turns himself in for being the phantom thief Mask☆DeMasque, and Desirée helping Phoenix to get her husband acquitted. Ron and Desirée love each other to the extent that Ron takes up the identity of Mask☆DeMasque to gain enough money to support his wife's shopping habits, and even the eventual reveal that Ron is indeed Mask☆DeMasque isn't enough to shake their relationship. Their cameo in Ace Attorney Investigations 2: Prosecutor's Gambit, which takes place months after Trials and Tribulations, shows them still being happy together.
  • Raging Loop: Haruaki ends up with somebody on every ending path besides Darkness — Chiemi in Yomi and Myth and Rikako in Wit (though it doesn't last).
  • While Steins;Gate allows for multiple options in the Visual Novel, the anime adaptation and the true ending firmly decides that Okabe's official girlfriend is Kurisu.
  • Tyrion Cuthbert: Attorney of the Arcane has the titular character Tyrion Cuthbert and his sidekick Celeste McCoy. They meet in Case 1, then develop feelings for each other over time when Celeste acts as Tyrion's bodyguard. They officially become a couple in Case 5.
  • In Umineko: When They Cry, all the couples are official, with the married parents of course, as well as George/Shannon, Jessica/Kanon, and in Chiru Battler/Beatrice and Kinzō/Beatrice Castiglioni. But, by When They Cry's standards, it gets a bit more complicated when it's made clear that Shannon, Kanon and Beatrice are all personas created by "Yasu", with which the three cousins successively and unwittingly fell in love. All this stems from Yasu's internal issues but also fuels them by putting them in an emotional dead-end. Interestingly, Bernkastel and Lambdadelta are also confirmed to love each other, in a sort of twisted way.

    Web Animation
  • Inanimate Insanity: As of the season 2 finale, OJ and Paper finally start dating and become the first gay couple of the series. Salt takes a huge dislike towards this, though, as she has a very obsessive crush over the former.
  • The Pink Corruption has two canon straight couples which are Iris and Pentellow, and Circumuscle and Rincle.
  • Cuddles and Giggles in Happy Tree Friends. An odd example, as she has been shown flirting with (or even dating) other characters even after the couple was established. Then again, this is Happy Tree Friends, where characters frequently die horribly only to be fine in the next episode...
  • RWBY:
    • Nora and Ren appear to solidify their relationship with a Big Damn Kiss in Volume 7; however, they're both dealing with issues that interfere. In Volume 8, they decide to wait until they're both ready for the relationship to move to the next level. Ren resolves his issues during Volume 8, while Nora realises that she's never been able to work out who "just Nora" is because she's always been "Ren and Nora"; Ren makes it clear he'll wait for her for as long as she needs.
    • Blake and Yang solidify their relationship status in Volume 9 with a Big Damn Kiss. Although this causes some temporary rocky moments with a friend who is going through a mental health crisis, it doesn't threaten their relationship and they're still together by the end of the volume.
    • Jaune and Pyrrha start as partners and inseparable friends who share an Undying Loyalty for each other. Pyrrha is quite obviously in love with him but Cannot Spit It Out, and Jaune has self-esteem problems and eyes on Weiss Schnee that leaves him oblivious and her unable to take the relationship further. In Volume 3 however, Pyrrha finally spits it out but only just before going off to fight Cinder and then perishing at her hands. Pyrrha's death haunts Jaune for years afterwards and it's only in Volume 6 (set some years after her death) that he comes to terms with the knowledge that Pyrrha knew she was likely going to die but felt compelled to try to save Beacon Academy and the comms tower because she was the only one close enough to reach Cinder in time. It's textbook Star-Crossed Lovers.
  • Tex and Church are the official couple in Red vs. Blue. Although they have a very tempestuous relationship and usually act more like enemies than a couple, neither ever denies it.
  • Koden and Amber, the only two sane characters from DSBT InsaniT.
  • Alpha and Flamegirl in TOME, both the TTA and 2011 series incarnations. Also, Zetto and Ruri in TTA.
  • Serial Designation N and Uzi Doorman from Murder Drones solve their building romantic tension in the final episode... as they fall from Copper 9's orbit to a final confrontation with Cyn. While Uzi expresses great embarrassment following the confession, she never makes it apparent that she doesn't love N... she just finds the open, physical affection gross.
Uzi: Well, that's a serious issue. Um, before that... whole... thing... we're, like, dating... right?
    N: Oh... y-yeah...
(The two start speaking to each other simultaneously in a fluster.)
N: ...like that was the plan, yeah...
Uzi: ...just 'cause, I can't always... I can't always read...
    N: Like... y-yeah?
    Uzi (tearing up): (giggles) ...yay.
(They pull each other into a tight embrace, and N even leans in to kiss Uzi... until Uzi shoves N back.)
Uzi (embarrassed): Gross, get away! (immediately starts cartwheeling so fast that smoke and sparks fly off her form as she and N fly down) Time to murder a PLANET!
  • Mara and Rayne from Journey to the Quest, who get together when Mara opens up about her Dark and Troubled Past at the end of season 1.
