I updated the Big Finish app and then had to delete and reinstall it because it thought it had deleted all the files but was still taking the same amount of disc space and adding on top when I redownloaded things. So, turns out the website advises you to log out first, ie let it delete all your downloaded files which yes it only allows you to have dled as long as you are logged in, so I reckon that was why.

I have redownloaded everything I was keeping then everything I had dled to listen to and it all fits again, but Alixion's picture is on the file named Fifteen Test Product, and every Purchased file is listed on the Purchased screen, even the ones that will not exist until 2029 (subscription to 10th Doctor audios achieved). And that is kind of nice in an upcoming attractions way but makes a lot of errors in July releases when it thinks you can download them but in fact you cannot.

Also once downloaded some files say the length of time they are but others say like '20 items' for what should be a single story. I have tried listening to one that is listed like that and it is in two minute ish pieces like the mp3 files, but with tiny gaps between playing them, and you can't use the back button on the watch to go before the start of the section. Hypothesis: some have dled as mp3 and some have dled as the other audiobook file like before. Messy. Not ideal.

But all my files appear to be there except the subscriber stuff like the website warns us, so, I guess they're making progress?

They also keep doing instructions for how to access your stuff on your phone without realising the fundamental problem is the menu will not scroll if the writing is too big for your screen. If you zoom out / hit the little A instead of the big A a bunch of times then the menu becomes useable again. But the complains are being answered with like 'click the arrow' when the arrow only appears on particularly large phones with tiny writing. Which hopefully they will figure out and fix or I may have to communicate.

Updates the user can notice are always tricky. But they have said many times they needed it to make the shop work so here we are.

The temperature in my flat has gone down a small yet crucial amount and I decided I could concentrate enough for new data.

... I have been rereading Temeraire, but I think I am just not in the mood. There's daring do and gripping adventure and I keep putting the book down right before the escape or whatever. I am missing the sort of thing fanfic does more of, the emotional layers and yearning having cycles. It's interesting but I feel distant from the story. So, I picked up something else.

The second Delano omnibus of Hellblazer is still significantly darker than other media of John and than anything else I am reading. But I couldn't put it down until after the bit with the funeral. It's the right kind of messed up. I kept wanting it to go answer questions it raised so it wasn't every section that seemed equally good. I wasn't impressed with the bit with the mass deaths, but there's a lot of stuff that gets more horror when you ignore the deaths and think about it a bit. Like ( Read more... )

The Family Man arc was very well done. Going from all that grand scale stuff with plant elementals and dragons to just this one man with a knife, good way to focus. And all the layered things it tells us about John Constantine? Brilliant.

Dark and frequently tacky and about using whichever sort of power to over react with gruesome consequences, so very back to human scale, and better horror for that.


Of course now it is the small hours of the morning and I already keep on having nightmares in this heat, so we shall see...

I say nightmares, this morning's was Good Omens Crowley trying to get me through the shopping mall to Aziraphale, but all the regular people kept getting mind controlled into trying to stop us, so Crowley kept possessing them to stop them, and when he did they went ginger and got sunglasses. So we ended up with a ginger sunglasses army, fighting all the other non sunglasses people, with Crowley getting increasingly annoyed because this was not how this is done, you can't tempt a possessed person so what's the point?

So pretty survivable as nightmares go, even if I am fed up of them.


Okays, I shall go scroll tumblr mindlessly for a bit.

It is Too Warm if I do anything other than sit in front of the fan, so I sit and reread fanfic.
... Astolat really likes writing the guy who does a colonialism but it'll really be for their own good this time promise... three different fandoms, three different conqueror king/emperor/presidents who will bring the good stuff of civilisation if the other guy will just quit all that fighting back...
old fandoms though, haven't read newer fandoms.

I am tired and too warm and cranky cause I ate things already and new things (brownies) will only arrive tomorrow.

I shall have to eat fruit.
