Story background:

The AMC Squad is a paramilitary group formed by a man whose identity is unknown to all but a select few in the EDF and EAF. Using funds from both agencies, he hired an old friend to track down 7 of the best and most skilled fighters in the Solar System, after the disappearance of Earth's greatest hero. This squad was formed to tackle the most severe threats to Earth's safety, including fighting off the notorious Cycloid race of aliens. However, they inadvertently set into motion a sequence of events that dramatically increase the scale of conflict, and they must soon deal with a threat that is new to even the most supernatural members of the team.

Can you fight as the AMC Squad, and take care of this threat? Will you scour the battlefield, find and acquire research and equipment and tackle the threat strategically, or simply run in guns blazing? Will you choose to play as Sangluss, a warlock with great power who overcame a dark past? Or as Merlijn, a knight from Holland who wields ancient weaponry to deadly effect? As Mikko, the cybernetic leader of MS Corp industries, who brings a range of deadly and hi-tech weaponry to the battlefield? Or as Highwire, who relies only on his good old-fashioned military rifles, and a trusty bottle of Vodka?

Whomever you choose, be prepared for the fight of a lifetime.

AMC Squad June 2026 News

Hopefully 2026 has been kinder to you than 2025...or any of the last decade let's be honest! Work continues on Episode 6; it's still early stages for us - giving it's the finale of nearly 20 years of work we don't want to rush it out the door. We have new team members, Jolteon and Solais (Who have both released excellent usermaps) and Kaostico (Who has helped with code issues) We're always on the look out for help though - if you're a Build mapper and want to help, or anything else for that matter, by all means come to our Discord and say hello!

Gameplay adjustments

As usual there's been tons of gameplay tweaks and balances. Hopefully you guys will be happy with them. Here's just a small list, with more to come.

  • James: Laser Bizon moved to Slot 6, with previous nerfs undone. This weapon was far too powerful and overshadowed every other Slot 3 weapon.
  • James: Removed Protecta Shotgun, and made the Pancor Jackhammer his default shotgun. The Protecta was overshadowed by his other shotguns, and the mana niche didn't make it worth taking over the other guns. The Protecta now belongs to the Cultist.
  • James: Removed PPK, and gave attachable suppressors to the 1911s instead. Whilst fun this gun only really had use in a single level, the other pistols like the FN-57 overshadowed it in every other way.
  • James: Removed 40MM Launcher, and given to Highwire - James had plenty of cased 40mm launchers available on his other weapons, and didn't really need a slot4 alternative. Highwire only had the M16+M203.
  • James: Replaced M16+Masterkey with an FN FAL+Masterkey. All of James' upper tier weapons were high ROF guns that did similar damage values. The FN FAL is a semi-auto but high powered weapon which will vary up James' basic arsenal.
  • Zaxtor: Moved Elemental Cannon to slot 6; Zaxtor already had two slot 4 replacements and this gun was basically a flat upgrade in many ways. Zaxtor previously had no extra slot 6 weapons at all.
  • Zaxtor: Moved Cultist's Rotary Gun to Zaxtor as a slot 9 replacement; Zaxtor didn't get any replacement for this gun until episode 4, which didn't feel entirely fair.
  • Zaxtor: Petrify Ray gets 2 shots instead of 1; whilst still intended for heavy targets, only getting 1 ammo felt far too punitive.

AMC Squad Ep6 dev update 1

  • Merlijn: Default slot 1 dagger now does Silver damage; this gives Merlijn much more of a fighting chance against supernatural targets.
  • Merlijn: Quietus can now summon spectral blades with Purple Mana.
  • Highwire: Replaced the RPKM, which always struggled to find a niche between the RPK and the PKM, with a Scar-lite+Masterkey shotgun. This gives Highwire a bit more flexibility with his shotgun choice.
  • Highwire: Added Neostead 2000 shotgun; a dual tube shotgun that can be found relatively early in episode two. Now Highwire can also benefit from being able to switch between 2 types of shells easily.
  • Highwire: Added GMX Lynx .50 cal sniper rifle; a powerful rifle that fires explosive rounds. Again poor Highwire had no alternative to his SVD right up until episode 5 - you now have a choice between hard hitting Anti-armour power or the more flexible SVD.

AMC Squad Dev update 2

  • Sang: You can now switch Slot 2 spells on the fly, without needing the Arcane Spellbook; that now instead will grant Sang the ability to summon Elemental Golems with purple mana from said spell book.
  • Sang: the BAR not only now has an extended magazine of 40 rounds (which did exist for the BAR) but also comes with a bipod, which now allows it to be far more accurate at long range.
  • Sang: the PPsh fires silver ammo; whilst not hurting for anti-supernatural weapons in general, this at least gives the gun more of a niche purpose rather than just a bullet hose alternative to the Uzis.
  • Rusty: FG-42's chain belt has been removed, and replaced with an extended magazine upgrade. Whilst contentious, the chain belt was too powerful and made Rusty's other slot 3 weapons less attractive. The Bayonet has received a massive damage buff to compensate, and also now thrusts you forward when using it - making closing the distance much easier.

AMC Squad dev update 3

  • Rusty: Winchester now fires silver bullets; whilst it was fun to aura farm with the gun, it was just less effective overall than the other available slot6 weapons.
  • Geoffrey: Very slight reduction in laser pistol's firing speed
  • Geoffrey: Default shotgun now has a reload sequence, in line with other pump action shotguns that can take alternate ammo types.
  • Geoffrey: Cutlass Rifle is now a semi-auto .50 calibre weapon; the silver bayonet has received the same buff as Rusty's FG-42's bayonet.
  • Geoffrey: Melta gun now has a magazine of 50 rounds, and becomes inaccurate with sustained fire. The original weapon was just far too broken/powerful, but nerfing its damage or ammo supply would be lame. This gives the gun some minor drawbacks.
  • Geoffrey: Overhauled Shock rifle with new art; is now a semi-auto DMR type weapon that fires bursts of energy. Re-added scope, and gave the gun a reload sequence. Again, it being a rapid fire anti-armour weapon made it too similar to the Melta gun in overall gameplay function. This now differentiates it better.

AMC Squad dev update 4

  • Cultist: Replaced Rotary gun with a flamethrower - the Rotary gun wasn't terribly interesting to use as the Cultist already had a bunch of high damage, high ROF weaponry.
  • Cultist: Tesla Gun now has a charged alt-fire, and a tertiary-fire that converts energy cells into ammunition for it.
  • Micky: Whiplash Shotguns now do armour piercing damage; whilst fun to use, the drawbacks they had compared to Micky's default Pulserifle were too significant to make using them seriously effective. There's now a real reason to take these over the pulse rifle, which can't hurt armoured targets.
  • Micky: Micky's wrist mounted ice blaster can now be toggled to fire MIA blasts instead.
  • Kagura: DP-12 changed into a dual tube shotgun that can utilise two kinds of shotgun shells. Kagura didn't have any weapons that could use alternate ammunition, which needed rectifying.
  • Kagura: Dragon Blades do more damage now.
  • Wheaton: His Photon DMR now has a masterkey shotgun!

There's more changes to come, and plenty I've forgotten to mention; one WIP update is that dual pistols will no longer fire simultaneously, instead firing alternatively on each button press. This feels far more satisfying to use overall compared to the synced up firing of the older code.

Level changes

There's been tons of under the hood fixes and updates to the existing episodes; some shortcuts and pacing improvements have been added, aiming to reduce backtracking. One significant change is that there are several maps that used to be locked to certain characters that have been unlocked now. Far Mountain Reaches in Episode 2 can now be played by any character. The Serpent Canal and EDF Panema can now be played as by Geoffrey as well as Mikko (since both characters can hack) and additionally Picbonear Reservoir can be played as by Zaxtor and Highwire additionally. Elysian Fields in Episode 5 can now additionally be played as by Kagura and Rosa, who can both also climb claw marks like Zaxtor could. We're hoping to open up more levels over time, as part of the fun of AMC is the vast array of different characters.

That's it for now! There will be more to talk about over time, as usual we keep quiet as we truck along with development work but with episode 6 being the finale, we want to make sure the whole game is as polished as possible.

Is there a setting or file I can edit to have all the characters unlocked but none of the upgrades, research or missions?

I wanna try playing through the game with everyone available but nothing else

there is actually yeah, if you type into the console at base:
setvar chars_open 131071
that *should* unlock everyone; you can make it permenant by editing the text based con file GENERIC_UI and changing this line:
var chars_open 0 0
to this:
var chars_open 131071 0

I've not tested it but that should work

Is There a way to remove cheat penalties other then playing on super easy mode? Example is more monsters while still able to get budget on godmode. Love exploring the detailed levels you all made with ample baddies to blast without dying every 5 minutes or no budget to progress the research mechanic.

I'll most likely remove the cheating detection from the game for the final release

This is a fantastic mod! I'm having a lot of fun with it. I am noticing heavy jagged lines on the weapons. Is this normal? I don't see them on the demos on youtube.
