I hit almost all the bingo squares for the average Dreamwidth user: Genderqueer/androgyne, bisexual and aromantic, pagan-agnostic, feminist crafter and writer geek with a cat and depression. I think the only big one I don't have is fannish.
I'm near the end of library school, but I'm finding that I'm really more a historian at heart. My vocations is stories, whether it's the historical fantasy I write or the stories of past people's lives that are at the heart of what history really is (library science is organizing information). I work in a research library though, and really enjoy it. I live in a little house built in 1932 with my roommates and my cat and more yarn and rescued books than I will ever use, in the liberal town in Indiana. On the weekends I take my camera and go out to Indianapolis or whatever's within a few hours of here to see what's there. In the evenings, to avoid working on the things I'm meant to be writing, I knit.
I'm not really an organized activity person whether it's religion or fandom, but Bast and Seshat politely tolerate me, and I am a fan of stuff in that I like things. I adore cheese and paranormal goofiness (though oddly enough, I've never been able to get into Supernatural). Sleepy Hollow is my current favorite show ever. I love the stuff they aired on MST3K when it was on and the goofball '80s and '90s TV I grew up with, and adore the comic majesty of David Caruso. Just plonking down and watching a movie without something in my hands to work on feels like a waste of time to me but I love the Marvel Universe movies because I'll abandon my pretensions to liking smart films for pretty men and silly action. I'm to the point now that public radio is the only radio station I listen to (Wait Wait Don't Tell Me and Science Friday and The Moth and Fresh Air OMG OMG), but all it takes to make me like a band is a fiddle and a rock'n'roll drummer. I read mostly only read memoirs and historical or scientific nonfiction anymore, but there's still a fond place in my heart for Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett, and for fantasy or scientific authors who can show me something I haven't seen a hundred times before.
I had another journal here and one on LJ going back to 2001. Those both cover a very long, terribly bad time in my life, so last fall when things just started to seem like they were going to be okay, or at least not terrible forever, I ditched that one. This is the journal for the new chapter in my life where there's light at the end of the tunnel.
