Tropes

  • Break-Up Song: It goes a while without becoming entirely clear what the subject is, but "And then you leave me, yeah you leave me" isn't particularly ambiguous.
  • Broken Record: Becomes this near the end with the titular phrase (or just simply "Here it Goes") or "I should have known" gets repeated on and on.
  • Ironic Echo: The first verse has "And you leave me with my jaw on the floor," the last verse cuts it off after just "And you leave me."
  • Jaw Drop: The lyric "And you leave me with my jaw on the floor."
  • Lyrical Dissonance: It sure sounds poppy and upbeat for a Break-Up Song.
  • Lyrics/Video Mismatch: As mentioned before, it's a Break-Up Song that's just overshadowed with cool dance moves on eight treadmills.
  • The Oner: The video was filmed entirely in one shot, after the song and video's success it became the norm for Ok Go.
  • No Plot? No Problem!: Instead it's three minutes of impressive dance moves on treadmills,
  • That Syncing Feeling: The song is lip-synced by Tim Nordwind instead of Damian Kulash.
