The Nerf Socom: Lexar Series is a series of short films released on YouTube by the Nerf Socom toy review channel from 2009 to 2014. It follows the LPG Team as they do battle with the Skull Team, trying to keep them from stealing Lexar, a mysterious device that turns out to allow its user to hijack the US’ nuclear arsenal.
Oh, and everyone uses NERF guns.
Nerf Socom: Lexar Series contains examples of:
- Ambiguous Ending: Does Andrew survive or defeat the SWAT team sent after him?
- Cain and Abel: Dave’s brother Johnson is The Heavy of the Skull Team.
- Cliffhanger:
- "The Shelter" ends with the Skull Team trapping the LPG Team in the underground shelter.
- "Above Johnson" ends with the LPG Team leaping out of hiding to start retaking their base.
- "The Finale" ends with the SWAT team encountering Andrew, who has broken free.
- Bond Villain Stupidity: Andrew is content to knock out the LPG Team upon betraying them instead of killing them. Even worse, the very next episode sees him order a nuclear strike against his own control room, implying he does want them dead.
- Foreshadowing: When he breaks into the Willow Base, Andrew allows one Skull Team member to escape downstairs. It’s because they’re all his minions.
- Heroic Sacrifice: In "The Control Room," Dave manages to stop a fourth nuke from launching before he is gunned down.
- I Just Want to Be Normal: At the end of "Umbrellamen," two LPG Team members leave to pursue their dream of opening an umbrella business.
- Informed Attribute: One Skull Team member claims Vortex blasters have superior range and accuracy. The real Vortex line from NERF...doesn't. And they never get to use them.
- MacGuffin: Lexar, which allows its user to hijack the US' nuclear arsenal.
- MacGuffin Title: Lexar.
- Made of Iron: Dave is able to run and fight just like normal after getting shot in the knee.
- The Mole: Andrew turns out to be the leader of the Skull Team.
- Real Life Writes the Plot: Dave was killed off so Jacob White could move to Washington.
- Wham Episode: "Above Johnson," in which The Mole is revealed.
