Reccer's notes: Decoyman1200 is a producer who dares to ask: what if Teto was just some dude from the American Midwest on the early internet? In addition to the masculine (and "naturalized," for lack of a better word - photo!Teto has brown hair and photo!Miku's cyan hair is a dye job with black roots showing in "Reckless Abandon", and Teto's website gif avatar in "Watchacallitsname" is a redhead with freckles and green eyes) presentation in the PVs, this producer tunes Teto's voice lower than most.

(On a song specific note, Reckless Abandon's lyrics are describing a textbook bipolar manic episode.)

I did find a Japanese commenter asking for a translation of the lyrics to "Reckless Abandon" so they can sing along. If anyone knows how to translate between English and Japanese, it might be nice to lend them a hand.

Reccer's notes: This is an extremely post-Mesmerizer take on Neru, I think. (Yes, Neru literally wasn't in Mesmerizer, but the Anglosphere-originated meme of Neru secretly being the sinister mastermind behind the events of that song's MV very much did go viral in the Japanese side of vocal synth fandom too.) Neru is presented here as a sinister film director carefully crafting a false reality for her own amusement. The "false reality" here, however, is likely more metaphorical than literal, compared to the "yellow one behind it all" fanon that accumulated onto Mesmerizer.

I'd like to add some commentary from a youtube comment by an account named CursedWithAGift, since those get buried so easily and this comment points out interesting details in the MV. It's long, so I'm placing it under a cut.

Reccer's notes: Probably one of the more sinister takes on virtual idol character as literal AI/Robot! Several commenters note that the "cult leader" character Teto plays is probably a LLM - albiet one that has, within the fiction of the song, possibly achieved true sapience. (Has it literally taken over a physical body, or is this just how metaphorically conceptualizes its relationship to humans? People using the LLM as a "confession booth" or life advisor, becoming emotionally dependent on it.) Examine elements like the back wall of the church being a circuitboard, the conversations resembling ChatGTP conversations, the four pointed star imagery looking like the logo for Google Gemini, and recurring concepts in the lyrics themselves. Considering how common "megalomaniac AI" has been as a trope in sci-fi for decades now, I'm surprised it took the current "AI" bubble for me to see a vocal synth character portrayed as one.

I'm curious about other people's interpretations of the song and MV!
