[personal profile] dira asked: Top 5 (or whatever number) canons you haven't made a vid for but want to?

Oh my gosh, what a great question!

Parameters: I’m interpreting this question as “haven’t yet made any vids for” as opposed to “have vidded already but still have specific unmade vid idea(s) for.”

Starting with the most recent idea and working backwards:

  1. A League of Their Own (2022). Pushes all my ensemble show buttons. Bonus: lesbians!

  2. Little Women (2019). I loved this book as a kid, and I love this movie so freaking much. I love the character Jo, of course -- if there are people who don't love Jo, I don't want to know about it -- and I love the way Gerwig writes her (and handles some key parts of her story) and Saoirse Ronan plays her. But the biggest gift the movie gave me was Amy -- both Gerwig's reading of her and Florence Pugh's performance. Amy was my least favorite of the sisters the first dozen times I read the book, and though I understood her better as I got older, the movie helped me see her in a completely different way, which was such an unexpected joy. And I have viddable thoughts about both those things! (Well, I hope they're viddable. They have songs attached, which bodes well.)

  3. Bridgerton. I have pairing-specific songs for S2 and a more, hmm, social-world-commentary idea that could span S1 and S2 (and possibly S3, at the rate I'm going).

  4. Black Lightning. This is a like-not-love show for me (I still haven't watched S4), and I had no particular intent to vid it, but then a song showed up, so. Of all the hypothetical vaporware vids on this list, this is the one that's least likely to get made, but I like the idea enough that I'm including it.

  5. The Good Place. I have multiple Good Place ideas, but the one I am most committed to is the one with a very specific goal attached: Make everyone cry! (This is the one I would totally be sending to VVC Premieres if that were still a thing.)

True story: at some point last summer I sat down with my absurdly extensive vids-to-be playlist and went through the whole thing song by song asking myself “okay, but do I really still want to make this vid or is it more that I kinda wish I had made this vid back when I actually cared about this show?” I still had Glee vid ideas on that playlist, and my affection for that show has long since fizzled out. I had Battlestar Galactica vid ideas on that playlist, and I haven't cared about that show since 2008. In fairness, I frequently make vids well after it makes any logical sense to do so -- was anyone clamoring for a Middleman vid six years after the show ended? nope! -- but that playlist was seriously out of control, and I felt a good deal lighter after I cut half of it.
