The RAFT (Reinforced Advanced Freight Transport) is a medium cargo hauler developed by Argo Astronautics. This compact vehicle is designed to transport six standardized 32 SCU cargo containers, maximizing payload capacity and minimizing complications. Features

Cargo

The RAFT is capable of effectively handling significant loads, featuring a remarkable maximum payload capacity of up to 192 SCU on its underside cargo grid. This design allows for a simple and seamless loading process, accommodating even 32 SCU cargo containers with ease.^[1]

Tractor Beam

The crew is able to oversee the transfer of cargo and control the Size 2 rear-mounted tractor beam from this station.^[1]

Storage

The RAFT is equipped with an internal storage capacity of 2400k μSCU, along with specialized racks for guns and utilities, as well as lockers for EVA suits.^[1]

Habitation

The two-person crew is provided with generous facilities including a kitchen, dining table, bathroom, and bunk beds that double as escape pods.^[2]

Docking port

Ship-to-ship or ship-to-station access is performed via a secure front docking port and airlock.^[2]

Weapons

The RAFT is equipped with a remotely controlled turret that features dual Size 3 guns, along with two hardpoints that can accommodate Size 1 guns.^[2]

Development

2021-11-24	RAFT was first demonstrated to various players on Day 4 of the Intergalactic Aerospace Expo 2951.^[4]
2021-11-25	RAFT was officially revealed and implemented to the PU in Alpha 3.15.1.
2025-05	In Alpha 4.1.1, RAFT's 3 sets of cargo arms were removed, and had the 3x32scu of separated cargo grids replaced by a unified 6x32scu cargo grid, effectively doubling the ship's hauling capacity from 96scu to 192scu.
2026-01	RAFT's webstore price received an increase from $125 to $190, due to its change in hauling capability.

Trivia

RAFTRON: Defender of the Persistent Universe was a very short segment that was shown at the very end of a Inside Star Citizen episode. It featured a giant super robot or mecha formed by combining five RAFTs of different colors. It wields a giant red sword and has a proportionally-sized Pico-ball for a head.^[5]^[6]
